Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate Deluxe Edition dated

Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate released to tepid reviews (at best), but that's not stopped Armature Studios from taking another crack at the Dark Knight as they transition the handheld game to PC and console platforms in t...

Here's our latest look at Dying Light photo
Here's our latest look at Dying Light
by Hamza CTZ Aziz

Techland has released this latest look at Dying Light, emphasizing what they're trying to achieve with the narrative. It also shows off the gameplay a bunch, and it's looking pretty great. Oh and hey there's a little girl about to get attacked by someone. Will that actually be in the game? Someone think of the children!

This trailer is kind of funny overall, as the studio was teasing some sort of announcement last week. The teaser just turned out to be a new trailer. People were hoping for a demo, or even better yet a release date. Who teases a trailer after multiple trailers have already been released?

Oh, Techland.

Warner Bros. cancels DLC for Wii U Arkham Origins

First footage of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

My initial reaction after hearing about Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and seeing this eight minutes or so of footage was that it's a shame Monolith didn't come with an original setting. Even if you aren't a diehard Tolkien ...

Whenever games tied to a major license are announced, there's usually a collective grumble from fans. Titles based on movies, television, or comics usually don't end up well, as most of the time they're developing with the focus on the brand as opposed to the game itself. With the announcement of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor back in November, many fans were taken aback by its seemingly loose interpretation of J.R.R. Tolkien's fiction.

But of course, you can chalk this up to pre-emptive nervousness considering the franchise's history in gaming. Which is totally understandable. But things now appear to be different, and this new sandbox action title from Monolith -- the developers of F.E.A.R, No One Lives Forever, and Condemned -- plans to take a fresh approach to making a game with Tolkien's lore.

During a private presentation of the game, Destructoid got the chance to check out a lengthy look at the game that represents a vertical slice of what the developers at Monolith have planned for their next foray into Middle-earth.

Atomic Poison Ivy is basically a plant spider thing

Atomic Wonder Woman? Badass. Atomic Green Lantern? Awesome. Atomic Poison Ivy? Umm. Up until now the Atomic versions of DC heroes you'll be able to play as in the Infinite Crisis MOBA have been pretty great. So the reveal of Atomic Poison Ivy is kind of a bummer. Mostly because she looks ridiculous walking around with her spider-like plant legs.

Review: Batman: Arkham Origins: Initiation photo
Review: Batman: Arkham Origins: Initiation
by Chris Carter

I was pretty disappointed with Arkham Origins. Maybe not as crushingly disappointed as Jim was, but I still felt like it was the weakest entry in the Arkham saga so far, and Warner Bros. Montreal didn't really do anything to make me confident in the future of the series.

Sadly, the newest DLC doesn't do them any favors either.

Batman Arkham-related announcement inbound

See that image above? Well, it was posted on Batman Arkham's official Facebook page along with instructions to "visit this page on December 31st for a special announcement." Could it be some Arkham Origin's DLC? A new entry into the series itself, perhaps? Batman Arkham [Facebook]

When it gets dark, Dying Light will freak you out

Daytime? Nice, warm rays of orange sunshine as if you were perpetually awaking from a refreshing cat nap? Sure, whatever. Drop kick zombies freely, like you're Faith from Mirror's Edge. Even zombies look a bit silly and list...

Batman: Arkham Origins gets free 'Hunter, Hunted' mode photo
Batman: Arkham Origins gets free 'Hunter, Hunted' mode
by Jordan Devore

I'm not currently playing Batman: Arkham Origins' multiplayer. Are you? Are your friends?

WB Games has release a new mode for the game, and I hope someone's out there enjoying it. "Hunter, Hunted" is a free addition on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 in which three Joker thugs, three Bane thugs, and Batman try to outlast each other with no respawns.

As appealing as it is to play as the Caped Crusader, man, talk about pressure. Glad to see this mode arrive in a free update so as to avoid splitting up the player base.

New screenshots for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

This trailer for LEGO The Hobbit checks all of the usual boxes for these titles. Coming off of LEGO The Lord of the Rings and its rather neat open-ended world, I'm curious to see how this new game will differ. The silliness ...
