War of the Worlds avatar gear invades XBLA

You had to know it was only a matter of time. They've been out there, watching us for years just waiting for the chance to force themselves on to your XBLA avatars. They've plotted their hostile attiring and have chosen ...

Exclusive: War of the Worlds trailer gives me the chills

Destructoid's been given an exclusive early post of this new War of the Worlds trailer, and it's quite the treat! Showing off some intense moments from the game, the footage does a good job of communicating just how spine-tingling H.G. Wells' original story was.

I saw a lot of promise in what I played of the game at PAX, so I am hoping the full product is just as good. It's great to see more of these sidescrolling adventure-platformers, especially if they're going to have Patrick Stewart in them!

War of the Worlds will launch October 26.

The War of the Worlds gets new screens and a trailer

I am really quite excited for The War of the Worlds, having played it at PAX. The moody, death-riddled platforming as seen in classics like Heart of Darkness and the more recent Limbo really resonates with me, and I think this could be a real winner.  We've got a selection of screens and a new trailer for you to take a peek at, so go do that. Hopefully some of you care as much as I do.

The War of the Worlds is pure class photo

Few stories have remained as lasting and as haunting as H.G. Wells' The War of the Worlds. Its tale of a Victorian-era London, beset by pitiless, immeasurably superior Martian harvesters, is still as chilling today as it was when written. Naturally, it's a great fit for videogames.

Like the story it draws from, The War of the Worlds on XBLA and PSN is presented in an equally lasting way, taking a sidescrolling platform approach most memorably found in games like Heart of Darkness and Out Of This World.

It's also as classy as cricket.

New Destructoid Episode: Duke Nukem, Catherine, and Wii U

Hey gang, long time no typing. In the wake of E3, I am suffering from what the experts are referring to as "nerd flu," but which is more likely a hybrid of the T-Virus, Captain Trips, and the Legacy Virus. In spite of Kinect...
