EVO 2013: Results, highlights, and all the hype photo
EVO 2013: Results, highlights, and all the hype
by Wesley Ruscher

Another year, another Evolution Championship Series under wraps. This year's premiere fighting game tournament was by far the biggest to date boasting over 3,000 participants from over 30 countries, stretching across nine of the most elite games in the genre.

Three days of non-stop action, that began with some of the most intense semi-final matches to grace the first day of the tournament ever. There were multiple bouts, especially in Super Street Fighter IV Arcade and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 that could have easily been grand final championship fights. It was definitely a rollercoaster ride of emotion from start to finish.

Day three culminated in another justifiably crazy day full of upsets and memorable moments. The amount of heart on display was inspiring. Reigning champs were dethroned and new kings of the stick were crowned.

Here are the winners and most hype moments of EVO 2013.

Capcom profits down, Street Fighter X Tekken sales lagged

The latest fiscal report from Capcom has a few pleasant surprises, but also has its share of rough spots. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City moved around 1.7 million units worldwide. That bodes well for the ...

The DTOID Show: Assassin's Creed 3, Prey 2, & XBLA Next photo
The DTOID Show: Assassin's Creed 3, Prey 2, & XBLA Next
by Max Scoville

Good evening my sexy little somethings. Here we are again with another sumptuous episode of The Destructoid Show. I honestly have no idea if people even read these little blurbs or if they just watch the video. I don't even know why I try to write sentences anymore.

On today's show, we're gushing over Assassin's Creed III, including my video impressions and the interview I did, as well as Conrad Zimmerman's preview, and subsequent post regarding scalping. On top of that, there are details about the three different special editions of the game and its Wii-U functionality.

Aside from Assassin's Creed III, there's also that rumor about Prey 2 being cancelled, a rundown of the upcoming XBLA Arcade Next event, which includes Minecraft for 360 and Trials 2.

But wait there's more: we're giving away four copies of Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 for the PS Vita. All you need to do is pick your three favorite character's from the game's roster and draw them... Doing something. Anything. Hanging out. Send that to cookies@destructoid.com by this Thursday, March 29th, at 11:59 PM Pacific time and a winner is you. (Sigh) Once again, this contest is US only. Sorry guys.

With Vita I am the greatest UMvC3 player alive!

Bwahahaha! Bow before me, scrubs. No one can touch me at Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3! Okay, so that's not true. I suck. And I'm a sore loser on top of that. But, with the PlayStation Vita's touchscreen controls and a little...

Rocket Raccoon and Frank West 'officially' join MvC3 photo
Rocket Raccoon and Frank West 'officially' join MvC3
by Wesley Ruscher

Capcom didn't do a very good job keeping the full roster of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 a secret from the gaming world when they announced the first four of twelve new characters back at San Diego Comic Con. For the sake of today's reveal though, let's pretend that we never saw that and revel in the fact that Dead Rising's Frank West and Marvel's Rocket Raccoon are now officially part of UMvC3's cast of warriors.

I got a chance to give the drunken photographer and furry guardian of the galaxy -- as well as most of the new cast of UMvC3 -- a go at a Capcom press event last week and I have to say both these unconventional fighters suit the game quite well.

Ultimate MvC3's Galactus mode was inspired by a hack

Galactus mode might be a silly excuse to smash the crap out of the cast of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but did you know its origins came to be from an old arcade hack? When talking to Capcom's Seth Killian about the mode an...

Is Mega Man coming to Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3?

Mega Man has definitely been given the cold shoulder by Capcom lately. This year alone the little blue guy has had two games canceled -- Mega Man Universe and Legends 3. His latest insult: he was left off the roster of Ultima...
