Just how tactical is Rainbow Six: Siege?

Rainbow Six: Siege has some single-player component, but the E3 reveal was multiplayer-focused, and that's probably going to be the best bit of it.  Unfortunately, the carefully manicured, staged banter of the...

Everything unfolds and explodes in Rainbow Six Siege trailer

A lot of fine people said some nice stuff at E3 about Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Siege. We're more than a month removed from the big show, but Ubi wants to keep those good feelings rollin'. This trailer should serve as an ample reminder in case you've forgotten, or in the event that you haven't seen a friendly neighborhood hostage crisis yet today.

This marks the second E3 we've seen Tom Clancy's The Division, an ambitious online open-world RPG that sees a players dealing with a disaster after society has fallen. This is also the second year in a row that we could not get our hands-on with the game.

Instead, Ubisoft played through a build for us. First they showed us what you all got to see during Ubisoft's press conference (video above). Then we got to see the same area, but during a nighttime setting.

Ubisoft announces Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege photo
Ubisoft announces Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege
by Brett Zeidler

Ubisoft closed off its E3 press conference with the announcement of a brand-new game, Rainbow Six Siege. The demo shown featured a 5v5 multiplayer session that had one team holding a citizen hostage and barricading the house they were in from the team that was tasked with invading and saving said citizen.

The invading team had a map of the house, a drone to scope the inside, and finally decided to breach the home after dropping in from a helicopter. They blasted a giant hole through the wall, and many more after that. Destruction looks incredible in this. The hostage was swapped between teams, and the house continued to get demolished with another breach happening through the top of the floor. That was rad. You can check out the rest for yourself in the video above.

Rainbow Six Siege will release next year for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

New content first on Xbox One for Tom Clancy's The Division photo
New content first on Xbox One for Tom Clancy's The Division

Tom Clancy's The Division will see its DLC coming to the Xbox One first. Sorry 'bout that, PC and PlayStation 4 adopters. The upcoming tactical shooter is slated for a 2015 release, and the latest footage out of E3 2014 showcases some interesting moves by other players who can play via mobile devices to control drones to support those on consoles.

Unfortunately, great voice-acting and role-playing on the part of your friends isn't a safe bet like the E3 footage. You're going to have to supply that on your own, and no one talks like that, honestly. Better recruit some voice actors if you want to replicate that kind of experience at home.

Rainbow Six: Vegas free for Xbox Live Gold members photo
Rainbow Six: Vegas free for Xbox Live Gold members
by Jordan Devore

The latest free game from Microsoft's Games with Gold promotion is another one you may have gotten years ago, but if not, great -- it's worth nabbing. Queue your download for Rainbow Six: Vegas over here. This is one of the rare few that I never got around to playing, so don't mind if I do. More than anything, I was eager to share that infamous picture of the baby-faced soldier.

Barring a change of heart, we know what to expect from Microsoft in terms of free games by now. Glad I didn't have particularly high expectations going into this. You could argue that we should be thankful for getting anything at all, and I see that point, but it would've been in the company's best interest to delight us. Microsoft could use some goodwill right now.
