Here's the Quantum Break demo from Microsoft's presser

One of the hands-down biggest hits of Microsoft's press conference at gamescom 2014 was the Quantum Break demo. In case you missed the show, here's the eight-minute demo that played. I could do without all of the third-...

Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition coming to PC too, has an odd trailer

Technically, the existence of Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition was just a rumor up until now, outed by a telling Amazon listing. Square Enix confirmed everyone's suspicions today by formally announcing the remake and p...

Sleeping Dogs will also be re-released on new consoles

Thus far, the most obvious trend that's accompanied the transition from legacy to current generation consoles is the upgrading and re-release of some of the more recent titles that were only available on PlayStation 3 and Xbo...

Order The Order's two collector's editions

I think we missed these during E3, but Amazon has The Order: 1886 up for sale (listed to come out February 20) with its two distinct  "Collector's" ($80) and "Premium" ($150) editions. So you true, true fans are going to need to double up and knock your mother's ashes off the mantle to make room for two statues.

Rise of the Tomb Raider might be on last-gen consoles too

Lara Croft may have moved onto new and exciting hardware, but that might not mean that she's seen the last of the faithful standbys from yesteryear. It appears as if Rise of the Tomb Raider, the franchise's next installment s...

Hands on with Splatoon, a very Nintendo competitive multiplayer shooter photo
Hands on with Splatoon, a very Nintendo competitive multiplayer shooter
by Darren Nakamura

Two days ago, if you had told me that Nintendo was working on a competitive multiplayer third-person shooter, I would have thought you were crazy. Imagining Nintendo venturing into the territory of blood-spattered 360 no-scope headshots just does not quite feel right.

Of course, Nintendo can take a gameplay mechanic that is normally reserved for more "mature" games, open it up to everybody, and inject its own ideas to create something that is wholly its own thing. That thing is Splatoon, and we got some hands-on time with it here at E3.

I want to love The Division, but I just don't trust it yet photo
I want to love The Division, but I just don't trust it yet
by Hamza CTZ Aziz

This marks the second E3 we've seen Tom Clancy's The Division, an ambitious online open-world RPG that sees a players dealing with a disaster after society has fallen. This is also the second year in a row that we could not get our hands-on with the game.

Instead, Ubisoft played through a build for us. First they showed us what you all got to see during Ubisoft's press conference (video above). Then we got to see the same area, but during a nighttime setting.

Sony announces Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, coming 2015
by Darren Nakamura

Whew. Sony's E3 press conference was a long one, but the PlayStation manufacturer capped it off with a huge announcement: Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.

Over video of Nathan Drake lying facedown in mud, we can hear Drake and Sully bantering back and forth. Along with the subtitle, they foreshadow that this could be Drake's last adventure.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is coming to PlayStation 4 in 2015.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain E3 2014 trailer is grim photo
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain E3 2014 trailer is grim
by Alessandro Fillari

It seems Konami couldn't wait till the morning. The E3 trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has appeared online, and it's one hell of a tease for whats to come.

In the last few months, series creator Hideo Kojima shared some details about what to expect from this trailer -- claiming that it would be light on action and more about the struggles and trials the characters will go through in the game. And he was definitely right about that. This piece here is pretty intense and gives us a look at just how far KojiPro will push the upcoming Metal Gear game.

For more on MGSV and other titles at E3 2014, be sure to check back with Destructoid during the week.

The Order: 1886 looks great from what little Sony will show us photo
The Order: 1886 looks great from what little Sony will show us
by Brett Makedonski

Sony seems reluctant to let us see too much of The Order: 1886 at once. In February, Dale had a chance to check it out in a hands-off demo, and his biggest takeaway was that it looked absolutely stunning. After finally having some hands-on time with The Order: 1886, all the positives that we saw before are reaffirmed, but five minutes of solid gameplay isn't exactly enough to warrant shouting its praises from the mountaintops.

The demo dumped us into the beginning of Chapter 3 (titled "Inequalities") and gave us a first-hand look at the combat system. While we've known that it's a third-person cover-based shooter, we weren't exactly sure how it'd play. The cover mechanics are built around a "soft cover" system, as the developers called it, meaning that the protagonist will automatically take refuge behind any pillars or walls, without the need for a button prompt to execute this.

While the cover system was effective enough, it was the introduction of the Thermite Rifle that made the demo a thoroughly enjoyable affair. The Thermite Rifle shoots iron pellets that can, in theory at least, be used to shoot enemies. That's not the fun approach, though. The intended function of the Thermite Rifle is to paint the areas above and behind your attackers, and then shoot a flare at it. This ignition causes a chemical reaction that basically makes fire rain down on your enemies.
