CD Projekt RED promises no platform-exclusive content for The Witcher 3

I don't know about you guys but when I saw the post last week about how the "exclusive content" for Watch_Dogs was spread out, it really drove the point home as to how silly the pre-order bonuses situation has become. Do all ...

CD Projekt: Witcher 3 may run better on PS4, but it's more of a 'PR differentiation'

The "Xbox 720p" debate rages on, as CD Projekt co-founder Marcin Iwinski weighs in on the potential differences between the Xbox One and the PS4 versions of Witcher 3. Speaking to Eurogamer, Iwinski notes, "We are still worki...

Farts 'N' Crafts: The Witcher 3 and warheads candy photo
Farts 'N' Crafts: The Witcher 3 and warheads candy
by Max Scoville

This week, I stop mucking around with condiments, pasta, and watercolors and just do a good old-fashioned drawing. The subject? Geralt of Rivia, The White Wolf, star of The Witcher books and games.

While drawing, I'm asked stupid questions by Bill Zoeker, who doesn't know anything about Witchers. Also, we eat very sour candies.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will 'go nuts' graphically on Xbox One and PS4

If you found CD Projekt's sprawling Witcher series to be your cup of tea, you're likely foaming at the mouth for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the third and final entry of a saga that's spanned ten years in development. It's shap...

Polish wasn't the only reason for The Witcher 3's delay

In an earnings report, CD Projekt elaborated on its reasons for delaying The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt into next year. As translated by NeoGAF user boskee, the presentation once again describes the company's desire to be...

Witcher 3 delayed, Angry Birds gets Epic, and an Ouya game about Slavery photo
Witcher 3 delayed, Angry Birds gets Epic, and an Ouya game about Slavery
by Max Scoville

Everyone’s off playing Titan Souls or Darkfall or whathaveyou, so news this week is a lot of non-news. The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt has been delayed, which sucks, but apparently won’t derail Cyberpunk 2077. Sony shakes its head and frowns on the subject of release dates for The Last Guardian and Drive Club, and apparently Watchdogs isn’t late, Ubisoft just told us about it really early. Angry Birds just took a turn for the turn-based, Halfbrick’s latest game is about a bear destroying precious works of art, and there’s an Ouya exclusive on the way where you play as an escaped slave. On the VR front, Valve’s head VR dude has gone over to Oculus, hopefully to develop ways to terrify stars of other HBO series, and Sony’s rumored to be revealing their virtual reality hat at GDC next week.

Also, check out this ridiculous Lil Jon video.

The Witcher 3 delay doesn't impact Cyberpunk 2077

Following yesterday's news that The Witcher 3 had been pushed back to February 2015, my only real concern was how its extended development would affect another of CD Projekt RED's games, Cyberpunk 2077. It won't. Not in "any ...

CD Projekt pushes The Witcher 3 to February 2015 photo
CD Projekt pushes The Witcher 3 to February 2015
by Jordan Devore

No Witcher 3 this year -- it stings, doesn't it? But we'll be better off. CD Projekt's board has written about its reasons for the delay to February 2015 in an open letter, viewable in full below.

"We could have released the game towards the end of this year as we had initially planned," reads the letter. "Yet we concluded that a few additional months will let us achieve the quality that will satisfy us, the quality gamers expect from us. Consequently, we have set the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for February 2015."

The studio intends to "expand creative boundaries, set new benchmarks, [and] develop the genre as a whole" with The Witcher 3. I'm usually happy to see a game delayed even if I don't realize it at the time and that's especially true here. To have something with such potential miss the mark in order to hit an arbitrary release date would be disappointing beyond words.

You can play The Witcher franchise for free this weekend photo
You can play The Witcher franchise for free this weekend
by Alasdair Duncan

With The Witcher 3 not to far off and looking pretty darn impressive, now would be a good time to catch up on the earlier games in the series. Steam has you covered by making both The Witcher and its sequel, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, free this weekend.

If I were you, I'd head straight to the superior sequel to get a quick Witcher fix this weekend. Whilst both games benefited from generous post-release patches, The Witcher 2 is still the better of the two. If the adventures of Geralt are impressing you, then you can buy both games for 80 percent off until late on Sunday. The Witcher is £1.39/$1.99 and the sequel is £2.99/$3.99.

Ugh. Mondays, am I right? They're a day that people don't like because you have to do stuff and things after (maybe) not having to do those things, you know? Lame.

Let's reverse the trend and brighten the day with a positive. A list of some of Destructoid's most anticipated games of this, year 2 of Anno Luigi. That's 2014 for you streets behind Luddites still operating in AD.
