Turns out blacksmithing is tougher than in Skyrim

I don't think that anyone really thought that Skyrim provided an accurate depiction of a blacksmith's trade. I mean, those dudes have to hit stuff for a really long time. It looks too tedious to be fun. Unless they have...

Elder Scrolls Online will let you become Emperor

More news on The Elder Scrolls Online has arrived, and this time, it's regarding the top dog position in the game's world -- the Emperor. ESO director Paul Sage spoke with OXM a bit about the role, and how players w...

Skywind modders release first developer video

Last month saw the alpha release of Skywind, a Skyrim mod that transports players back to the land of Morrowind. More than just a rehash of old content, the developers have reworked and altered much of the original game's me...

Skyrim mod restores content cut by Bethesda

Skyrim modder Arthmoor managed to find some content that didn't make it into the game's release, and he has done his best to add it back into the game. He released the Cutting Room Floor mod to restore a few NPCs, some quest...

Fallout 4, The Walking Dead, SOMA & Summer Movies photo
Fallout 4, The Walking Dead, SOMA & Summer Movies
by Max Scoville

Hey gang! Here's your Destructoid news update for this Thursday. I dabbled in some non-gaming news, I hope you don't mind. There are a lot more exciting movie trailers this week than there are game trailers.

The news: Fallout 4 details leak, Elder Scrolls Online gets a release date, SOMA looks creepy, The Walking Dead Season 2 gets a trailer, Call of Duty: Ghosts gets wolf DLC, and there are trailers for Edge of Tomorrow and Jupiter Ascending, both of which look interesting. There are rumors about Jason "Khal Drogo" Momoa being cast in Zak Snyder's Batman Vs. Superman movie, and Christopher Nolan's Interstellar gets a website and a logo.

The Elder Scrolls Online hits PC/Mac first in April photo
The Elder Scrolls Online hits PC/Mac first in April
by Jordan Devore

ZeniMax Online Studios has come out with a suitably memorable release date for The Elder Scrolls Online: April 4, 2014 (aka 4.4.14). That's when the massively multiplayer online role-playing game will arrive on PC and Mac -- hopefully without too many launch-window issues. The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions are coming a bit later in June.

Glad to have this news out of the way, but it's the new trailer I'm more interested in. It features some PvP, which basically amounts to crowds of people wailing on one another and some occasional structural damage. A faction-based approach worked quite well in Guild Wars 2, and I'm keen to experience a similar system in TES Online.

Watch Thomas the Tank Engine terrorize Skyrim

That cold, dead look in his eyes as he relentlessly attacks the village; that menacing bellow as he terrorizes the sky; the unforgiving nature of his assault. The legends are true.

Download the Skywind alpha and play Morrowind in Skyrim

Just hearing the Morrowind theme fills me with the need for adventure, and seeing the streets of Balmora makes me feel at home. Now I have a chance to revisit my favorite Elder Scrolls game as a mod for Skyrim. The epic mod...

Elder Scrolls Online trailer explains character building

Bethesda is seeking playtesters for unannounced game

There's been a lot of chatter lately about what the developers at Bethesda Softworks have got in the works. With the recent survivor2299 website popping up, and the trademarks for Fallout 4 being registered, many people are c...

This image of Skyrim modding made my day

I don't feel it's inherently necessary to explain why this image is worth sharing -- does it not speak for itself? -- and I've already paid my debt with a serious story about the benefits of modding The Elder Scrolls V: Skyri...

That 19-year-old Skyrim modder landed a dream job

Alexander Velicky's massive Falskaar mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim impressed us back in July. What got me the most was that a large part of his motivation for this mod was to get a job at Bethesda. While that hasn't hap...

Skyrim officially comes to Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition

It can be difficult to keep up with all of the content 4J Studios pumps out for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition and the millions of people that seem to own that version of the game. This seems like a big one, though. It's a DLC p...

This is The Elder Scrolls Online's character creator

I've come to warm up to The Elder Scrolls Online after seeing it at a few different events. One aspect that never disappointed me, even early on, is the MMORPG's character creator. Granted, I wasn't able to dig too deeply, a...

New releases: Scary, porcine machines photo
New releases: Scary, porcine machines
by Fraser Brown

I'm still recovering from last week's Outlast, and now we've got another bloody terrifying first-person horror title to scare our pants clean off in the form of Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. I confess that reviews, such as our lovely Jim's, have cooled my excitement a bit, as The Chinese Room's love of story above all else has diminished the horrific terror found in the first game.

On top of Amnesia, that Killzone: Mercenary thingymabob is coming out; Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix is dropping, so Squarephiles and Disneyphiles have something to get excited about; Arma III is finally leaving beta and becoming a big boy game, which is splendid, because it's rad; and everything Elder Scrolls gets collected in an anthology pack. All this and more is launching this week.

Anything tickling your undercarriage?

by Tara Long

Greetings, internet citizens! Max was out of the office today, so I grabbed Techfeed's Scott Bromley (and fellow host of The Comedy Button) to chat with me about GTA V's Collector's Edition, the rumored-but-not-yet-announced Borderlands 2 GOTY Edition, the phasing out of MS Points, and whether or not you'll be required to use magic in The Elder Scrolls Online. We've also got details on the must-see panels and parties of PAX Prime 2013, so if you plan on attending this year - listen up!
