EVO 2013: Results, highlights, and all the hype photo
EVO 2013: Results, highlights, and all the hype
by Wesley Ruscher

Another year, another Evolution Championship Series under wraps. This year's premiere fighting game tournament was by far the biggest to date boasting over 3,000 participants from over 30 countries, stretching across nine of the most elite games in the genre.

Three days of non-stop action, that began with some of the most intense semi-final matches to grace the first day of the tournament ever. There were multiple bouts, especially in Super Street Fighter IV Arcade and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 that could have easily been grand final championship fights. It was definitely a rollercoaster ride of emotion from start to finish.

Day three culminated in another justifiably crazy day full of upsets and memorable moments. The amount of heart on display was inspiring. Reigning champs were dethroned and new kings of the stick were crowned.

Here are the winners and most hype moments of EVO 2013.

In defense of boobies photo
In defense of boobies
by Vito Gesualdi

Let me preface this article by stating a few simple facts. I am a young, white, American male who consumes vast amounts of pornography. As such, I am occasionally drawn to depictions of the female form which are perhaps outside the realm of realism, with silicone implants and soft lighting helping to emphasize certain erotic areas.

Am I ashamed of my interest in these depictions? About as ashamed as anyone might be when discussing their sexual interests. However, I am also a logically thinking adult who understands that real women don’t look anything like the bizarre sexual fantasies on my computer monitor, nor would I want them to.

Review: Tekken Card Tournament photo
Review: Tekken Card Tournament
by Chris Carter

For something that came out of nowhere, Tekken Card Tournament is actually a decent if simplistic little card game. As you're locked in card combat, fighter avatars will jostle about on screen just like the core games with a surprising amount of polish, and the game itself is incredibly easy to pick up.

But that's only half the experience. Littered with obscene microtransaction amounts up to $99.99, typical "beg your friends" Facebook bonuses and an energy system, Tekken Card Tournament's pitiful means of asking you for cash at every turn detract from an otherwise enjoyable affair.

When word about Tekken Card Tournament first got out, it seemed to me like it could easily have been a quick side project for Namco Bandai. I didn't expect it to get this kind of treatment -- just look at the embedded t...

The Ravens will win the Super Bowl because of these games photo
The Ravens will win the Super Bowl because of these games
by Chris Carter

Ever since the team's inception, I've been a member of the Ravens Nation. After a quick victory in Super Bowl XXXIV, we've been so close yet so far so many times.

Now, we have another shot in 2013.

I mean, we all know The Ravens are going to win today. Hell, even Madden knows it. But you want to know why? Because these videogames have inspired Ray Lewis and his boys more than any pre-game ritual could ever do.

These are the videogames that are going to take them all the way.

Review: Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Wii U Edition photo
Review: Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Wii U Edition
by Chris Carter

Tekken isn't what I'd consider a "Nintendo friendly" franchise. No, I'm not referring to the actual content of the games, but the mere existence (lack thereof, rather) of the franchise on Nintendo consoles and portables.

In 2001, there was Tekken Advance and earlier this year, Tekken 3D. In the 18 long years of Tekken's existence, Nintendo has hosted a grand total of two games, both of which had less than savory reception.

Now, it looks like Namco is finally doing it right with Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Wii U Edition.

What is 'Tekken Card Tournament'?

Whatever it is, I'm in. I love Tekken, and I love card-based games. The combination of the two could be great. It's too bad that we have no idea what 'Tekken Card Tournament' really is, though. Siliconera found that Namco Bandai filed a trademark for the name in Europe. They're guessing it could be a mobile or social game. Fair guess. What's your guess?
