You can get The Sly Cooper Collection on Vita today

Issuing a moratorium on how a thing "would be great on Vita," so, uh, I don't know what else to say. Sly Cooper is fun. And now the HD bundling of the first three games is playable on the Vita. Of course, it's also 30 bones and you can probably track down the PS3 version for less than half that price on Amazon. But, hey, it's a great fit for the Vita. Oops!

A Sly Cooper movie is happening

Sly Cooper has always been one of my favorite game series, mostly because it faithfully recreates the feeling of a Saturday morning cartoon. The cast is also likable and full of life, which is a testament to their solid char...

Review: Bentley's Hack Pack photo
Review: Bentley's Hack Pack
by Chris Carter

Sony does a pretty terrible job at promoting its first-party games. For instance, take Sly Cooper.

Droves of gamers were not only unaware that Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time launched last week, but they were completely in the dark in regards to the fact that a second Sly Cooper game was actually coming out on the same day.

This is because Sony announced it the day of its launch, buried under a press release for Thieves in Time, never to be seen or heard from again.

That game is called Bentley's Hack Pack.

Review: Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time photo
Review: Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time
by Conrad Zimmerman

Sly Cooper has come out of retirement to try and solve the mystery of why pages have been disappearing from the Thievius Raccoonus, the tome of family history for the Cooper lineage of master thieves. Reunited with best friends Bentley and Murray, the trio set off on a quest through time to save Sly and his ancestry from a mysterious new threat.

He's been brought back by a new development team this time around, Sanzaru, who also worked on the Sly Cooper HD Collection released last year. For their first time at bat on a wholly new game in the series, Sanzaru has opted to play it safe, making a game which fits nicely within the existing franchise with seemingly no ambition toward redefining it.

This is how you redeem cross-buy games on your PS3 photo
This is how you redeem cross-buy games on your PS3
by Chris Carter

Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time is out today, and I've already had a stampede of readers who have no idea how to redeem their cross-buy copy. For those of you who aren't familiar with Sony's promotion, if you buy the $39.99 PS3 version of Sly Cooper (or any game within the cross-buy realm), you'll get a free digital Vita copy.

But this process isn't as simple as redeeming a code included in the game. People who already utilized this function in the past with PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale may know the drill, but for the rest of you, you're probably in the dark. Let me help.

All you have to do is put the disc in your system, go into the XMB, and under the game folder, find "Disc Benefits." Select that option, and follow the instructions to link the disc to your PSN account (you should be signed in for this). Voilŕ! Once you link it, you can't repeat the process again, but you'll be able to bust out your Vita and download your free copy of the game.

Since the PSN doesn't "fully update" at once in terms of game listings, you may need to manually search for "Sly Cooper" on your Vita's store to utilize the cross-buy function. You also may find that the Disc Benefits screen says "this content is coming soon." All that means is that the PSN needs to update (usually in the evening, EST time) before you redeem it. It's not broken.

That's it! Feel free to play both versions and utilize the cross-save features to your heart's content.

New releases: Fire Emblem makes a welcome return photo
New releases: Fire Emblem makes a welcome return
by Fraser Brown

It can't be Monday again, can it? My phone, calendar, and PC tell me that it most certainly is, but I've just spent an entire day stuck on planes and in airports, thus I may very well have gone mad. Regardless, I'm committed to my insanity, so it's time for this week's new releases.

Fire Emblem! Hell yeah! I couldn't possibly be more excited about a game exclusive to a system I don't even own. It may very well be the final push I need to pick up yet another console that I don't have time or money for. I don't even need to bore you by waxing on about this, as the review has been up for days. Go devour it!

If you don't care about Fire Emblem (what the heck is wrong with you?) then there's still plenty that may tickle your fancy. That Dead Space 3 thingymabob is due to arrive, complete with micro-transactions, co-op stuff, and I certainly hope a solid amount of scares; Sly Cooper is jumping through time and planning heists in Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time; and that Ken fellow continues to have anger issues in Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage 2

That and a whole heap more are gracing shops both digital and physical this week, you lucky, lucky devils. What are you grabbing?

E3: Sly's Vita debut pickpocketed my heart
by Allistair Pinsof

When I heard the long-awaited next-gen Sly Cooper sequel would be put in the hands of Sanzaru Games, I lost all interest. Considering Sly 1 & 2 are two of my favorite games, that's a lot of interest to lose.

But, what do you expect when the developer behind the mediocre Secret Agent Clank and, uh, Ninja Reflex take the reins of a loved franchise? I'm happy to report that Thieves in Time is looking pretty good, all things considered.
