Damn it, Pac-Man, I believed in you!

"Would you like to bet your earnings and try to extend your win streak?" Hmm. I was going to call it quits in Super Smash Bros.' Spectator Mode. I had too good of a streak going to continue pressing my luck, but the break bet...

The GameCube adapter will only 'officially' work with Smash Bros. Wii U

When Super Smash Bros. comes out on the Wii U and the GameCube controller adapter comes with it, you will only be able to use said adapter on Smash. That's the official word from Nintendo this morning, anyway. "The GameC...

Nindies at IndieCade. Wait, Nindies? I love you, Nintendo

The list of new Nintendo independent games to be shown at IndieCade that we received this morning? Great. Great news. But I'm more hung up on the title of the press email that Nintendo sent out: Nintendo Showcases Prolific &...

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate gets an amazing Samus costume photo
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate gets an amazing Samus costume
by Chris Carter

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is still coming in 2015 outside of Japan, and there's yet another Nintendo/Capcom crossover coming. A Samus costume is making an appearance, and yes, it will be coming to the western version of the game.

At this point I think Nintendo and Capcom are friends enough where the latter can just, give over the rights to Mega Man games to the former? I mean, think about it. Capcom can pull a George Lucas and retain merchandise rights. Nintendo can make great games and Capcom can still collect -- do a five to ten year deal and see where it goes.

Enh, enh?

Get your nostalgia flowing with this cartoon retelling of EarthBound photo
Get your nostalgia flowing with this cartoon retelling of EarthBound
by Darren Nakamura

Fans of EarthBound celebrated the 20th anniversary of its Japanese release a little over a month ago on August 27. Followers of the series are known for going above and beyond in celebrating it, so of course one would spend four years making this lovely, charming tribute.

The five-minute animation retells the story of Ness and his friends on their journey to save Eagleland from Giygas. So many little touches are in there that will bring a smile to EarthBound fans' faces. There is a Spiteful Crow carrying a cookie, Paula's teddy bear, a New Age Retro Hippie, the Runaway Five, Overcoming Shyness, homesickness, and more. The iconic scene of Paula praying during the final battle made me a little misty-eyed.

More information about the video and its creation can be found at Project PK Flash.

Dorf on the Diamond: 7,116ft in Smash Bros' home run contest

This is even better than discovering Yoshi's easy down-A in Melee's home run contest. I spent some of the weekend trying to find cheap, lazy home run contest tricks, like spamming Fox's blaster, but I haven't been able to top about 2,200 with Link. This bat-less Ganondorf trick more than triples my best effort.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker launches in North America on December 5.

The Wii U puzzler is based on a minigame from Super Mario 3D World, and sees the eponymous protagonist explore a myriad of locales in search of hidden loot.

Captain Toad will retail for $40 and support select amiibo figures sometime next year. Nintendo has yet to reveal what sort of functionality the toys will add to the experience.

Review: Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS photo
Review: Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS
by Chris Carter

Super Smash Bros. and I go back a long way. When the first game was released in 1999, I didn't drive. Heck, I didn't even have a Nintendo 64 at that time. But I had a Smash Bros. addiction, and would spend hours upon hours at friends' houses, often staging sleepovers just so we could play more. It was probably the first game I ever put over a thousand hours into.

My Melee addiction was even worse. With wheels, I could drive to local tournaments and hone my craft. I had "training buddies" that I'd sit for hours and play with, trading new strategies along the way. I had groups who played all items on random levels, I had friends who played Final Destination no items only, and I had acquaintances who played a mix of both. However you shake it, Melee may be my most-played game of all time.

But when Brawl came out, a lot of the groups I had been playing with for all these years kind of fell off the map. They either continued to play Melee regardless, or just quit Smash entirely. It was an odd time seeing a franchise that I had enjoyed so much fall off like that in my personal circles, and from what I've seen over the past few years, I wasn't alone. It wasn't a bad game -- it just didn't set off that spark in me that 64 and Melee did before it.

Enter Smash 3DS. Not only has it rekindled my love for the series, but I have a feeling that once the Wii U version hits, living rooms will be smashing for hours all over again.

Mega Rayquaza looks far cooler than normal Rayquaza

It was all but guaranteed that Rayquaza would be among those Pokémon in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire to have a Mega Evolution -- or perhaps a Primal Reversion, like Groudon and Kyogre -- and as such it's nice to get ...
