Revol Mini Solid Snake figure packs a smaller punch

Solid Snake has never been this adorable. Well, I don't know if the new Revoltech line, Revol Mini, qualifies as adorable, but this particular figure cuts it for me. The Solid Snake Revol Mini figure comes packing excellent d...

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes platform exclusive DLC will eventually see a full release

I really enjoyed Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes for what it was, and despite many people calling it a "short" game, I've clocked around 30 hours so far -- far more than the vast majority of regular releases. Part of ...

There's a mo-cap dog in this Ground Zeroes making-of video

Very Quick Video Tips: A guide to all the Ground Zeroes XOF patches photo
Very Quick Video Tips: A guide to all the Ground Zeroes XOF patches
by Chris Carter

Both Sony and Microsoft have their own platform-exclusive missions for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, and you'll have to do a bit of legwork to unlock them. Basically, you'll need to grab all nine XOF patches hidden throughout the main mission, then complete the main objectives.

Here in this video I'll show you the location of every patch, and pause for a second to also show it on the iDroid map. If you're wondering how to get the second patch at the start of the video, just go prone, and press in the left stick to roll from side to side constantly until it falls out.

XOF patch progress only saves at checkpoints -- so if you get a game over, you may need to recollect a few.

So how do the two platform-exclusive Ground Zeroes missions compare? photo
So how do the two platform-exclusive Ground Zeroes missions compare?
by Chris Carter

As you may have heard, both Sony (PS3, PS4) and Microsoft (Xbox 360, Xbox One) have their own piece of exclusive content for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. This isn't a pre-order bonus mind you -- it's built into every copy of the game.

Naturally this can lead to a choice between the two, so let's take a look at what you're getting.

Here's everything you can do in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes photo
Here's everything you can do in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
by Chris Carter

As you may have gleaned from my review, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is not for everyone. It only features one area, very little story, and it's only a glimpse of what's to come in Phantom Pain.

But that doesn't mean it isn't a ton of fun to play, and there's plenty to do outside of the relatively short story mission.

Review: Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes photo
Review: Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
by Chris Carter

Ever since I randomly picked up a conspicuous looking Metal Gear NES catridge in 1990, I've been enjoying Snake's adventures. I've collected every Metal Gear game released in the US, and while I'm busy waiting for the next entry, I'm keeping up with the encyclopedic amount of data that fills the series' lore -- which is a task all on its own.

And wait we shall, as Phantom Pain is still completely up in the air regarding its release date, leaving Kojima and crew to satiate our needs with Ground Zeroes. But even as a fan, there are a few shortcomings that make me hesitant to call Zeroes a "must have" franchise entry, despite how fun it might be.

Today on Fart's 'N' Crafts, I'm drawing Godzilla and Big Boss fighting! Or hanging out. Or something. This suggestion comes by way of Nicholas Layne on YouTube, thanks Nick!

Infiltrating Outer Heaven: A tour of the Kojima Productions studio photo
Infiltrating Outer Heaven: A tour of the Kojima Productions studio
by Max Scoville

While in Japan to preview Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, I was taken on a tour of the Kojima Productions offices. In theory, there's a certain magic to getting to go behind the scenes of where videogames get made. In reality, videogames are usually made in regular offices, with desks and cubicles, and because of this, studio tours can sometimes be a bit dry.

Thankfully, that wasn't the case here.

Arkham Knight, Goat Simulator, Shaq-Fu 2 & The Last of Us: The Movie photo
Arkham Knight, Goat Simulator, Shaq-Fu 2 & The Last of Us: The Movie
by Max Scoville

Sweet Christmas do we have some great news about video games today!

Let’s see… My previews for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes went up, a new Batman game was announced by Rocksteady, Batman: Arkham Knight, Watch Dogs finally has a release date, and there’s a new Dragon Age: Inquisition trailer. On a less fun note, Mad Catz announced a partnership with Ouya, and on a downright depressing note, Disney Interactive has laid off 700 employees.

However, there’s a bunch of crazy weird news: Shaq-Fu is (hopefully) getting a sequel, Goat Simulator is going to be an actual game, and Akiba’s Trip 2, a Japanese game about punching vampires till their clothes come off, will actually be released in the west. Finally, a couple pieces of movie news: there’s feature film in the works based on The Last of Us, which seems sort of redundant to me, but that new Transformers movie involves Optimus Prime living in Mark Wahlberg’s barn, which is even more ridiculous than robot dinosaurs.
