Who is yelling in this Madden trailer and why, why, why

I wanted to fit a "Red Warrior is about to die" joke in this trailer for Madden's new Gauntlet mode. I got as far as "Redskins is about to die" before I started watching this video and was greeted with an over eager, discordant voice over. Bosssssss levelsssssssssssss. Who thought this was a good idea?

Madden 15 cover wants you to stop in your tracks, or something

Seattle Seahawks star cornerback Richard Sherman won the vote to be on the box art of Madden 15. What exactly he's doing on the cover, well, that's anybody's guess. Does he want a high-five? (If so, gotta go higher, Richard.)...

EA Sports has one big focus for Madden, FIFA, and NHL this year
by Brett Makedonski

EA Sports is in a good position with its athletic franchises. The demand for annual iterations in each series is high enough to warrant frequent releases, but sports don't really change. This allows the developers to focus on nothing but improvements and making the games as realistic as possible -- something that any fan of sports games desperately wants.

And, realism is exactly what EA Sports strives for. With regard to its Madden, FIFA, and NHL brands, each is seeing changes this year that bring it ever closer to pure simulation. After all, if it's in the game, it's in the game.

Vote Richard Sherman to the Madden 15 cover

Who on here deserves it more? Maybe Jamaal Charles for being on the Chiefs? Well, that didn't get Steven Jackson any cover appearances for the decade he toiled away on the Rams. And for context, I am a Rams fan advising you t...

Madden 15's overly serious teaser to remind you it's coming

So, last year was Madden NFL 25, and this year is Madden NFL 15? I can't wait for Madden NFL -5. Integers are fun, kids. Anyway, here's a self-important trailer. Reminder: this is a game. It's a game of a game. Madden 15 is coming to PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and 360 on August 26 in North America, August 29 in Europe. Voting for the next cover player begins May 8.

Breaking Madden's Super Bowl is better than this Sunday's

We approach another manicured, partially tax-exempt-NFL, $9B/year industry football game this Super Bowl Sunday. We'll be lucky to get a sign of life like Richard Sherman's postgame interview two weeks ago. No, it will be a ...

Madden 25 predicts a Broncos Super Bowl win

The Super Bowl is this weekend, fittingly attended by teams from both states wherein pot is legal, though housed in New Jersey, where, at the moment, snow does not seem imminent despite recent cold. As Madden 25 tells it, th...

Impressions: Madden NFL 25 (Xbox One and PS4)

It's tough to feel the need to upgrade to a "next-gen" version of a game when so many of them are practically identical to the product you already bought. Though some PS4 and Xbox One titles have drastic differences like a va...

Madden 25 CoachGlass may be the best way to call defense photo
Madden 25 CoachGlass may be the best way to call defense
by Steven Hansen

Stats run sports. Yes, we have heartwarming stories of moxie and upsets and unexpected onside kicks right after the Super Bowl halftime show and they make for great narratives, but numbers are invaluable at easily quantifying what used to take a wicked good eye and more memory than is worth expending.

Anecdotes say Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is a choke artist who can't finish games. Numbers show that from 2008 to 2012, the number of game winning drives or fourth quarter comebacks he orchestrated increased each year, including five of the Cowboys' eight wins in 2012.

One the failings of Madden has been an inability to convey information and to teach football. Madden 25 took some steps to address this with the Skills Trainer, while CoachGlass goes a step further, actually working in-game to allow you to make informed decisions with an intuitive interface.

Mmm, EA wants you to 'feel it': Next-gen Madden trailer

Skip to about 1:40 for a nasty hit. Now that we're in the year 2025, it's time for a next gen Madden game. Madden 25 released a couple months ago, but on smelly and dumb old news hardware. Next month, it's coming to fresh an...

New releases: Killers everywhere photo
New releases: Killers everywhere
by Fraser Brown

I'll be spending this week playing catch up, but there's no dearth of new releases. Killer is Dead is tempting me, because bloody hell it looks flashy, but I'll probably leave until I'm not drowning in games. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is notable too, if only because it was originally a shockingly poor MMO and had to be entirely rebuilt. I've not been impressed with the results, and found myself sick of it after a weekend. Others seem to be getting more out of it, however.

Also on the docket this week, we've got Lost Planet 3, which is nice if you're sick of the summer heat; Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons comes to the PC, which pleases me greatly; and some burly American fellows kick a ball around in Madden NFL 25. There's more too, but you'll have to scroll down for that.

Anything floating your boat this week?
