Impressions: League of Legends: VelíKoz

Riot keeps introducing new League of Legends champions, and we keep trying them out. The newest addition to the Summoner's Rift is Vel'Koz -- The Eye of the Void. He's a bit out of place in many ways, with an aesthetic design that isn't normally utilized in in the game, and likewise, he's a bit unconventional in terms of gameplay.

Awesomenauts Assemble! to arrive on PS4 March 4 photo
Awesomenauts Assemble! to arrive on PS4 March 4
by Conrad Zimmerman

My favorite online multiplayer game is finally going to land on PlayStation 4 next week, as Awesomenauts Assemble! releases on PlayStation Network. The title releases in North America on March 4 for $9.99, with a European release on the following day.

As an avid Awesomenauts player, the arrival of the PS4 version brings with it mixed feelings. The original console releases were great fun, until the Steam version rendered them obsolete with a steady stream of new content and balance tweaks. Now comes Assemble!, already behind the curve, with portions of the Kickstarted Starstorm DLC content already in the wild on Steam and numerous balance and gameplay shifts having been made in adjustment to that.

It still calls to me. Maybe it's a desire for a simpler time before Ted McPain and his goddamn shotgun completely countered my melee strategy with Gnaw. Or when aggressive Voltars were as rare as they were dangerous (they're all just dangerous now). And maybe it's a little bit that I want to play more stuff I love on the PS4. Doesn't matter if it's a time capsule, I want to play it all the same.

Casting magic spells in Magicka: Wizard War's new mode photo
Casting magic spells in Magicka: Wizard War's new mode
by Hamza CTZ Aziz

Magicka: Wizard Wars has been available through Steam's Early Access program since October and it's been seeing updates at least once a week. Updates ranging from small bug fixes, to big new additions. A lot of these updates are thanks to the fan interaction, as Paradox works closely with their community to shape their game.

With Wizard Wars in particular, the developers have received 20,000 messages so far with recommendations and suggestions. Granted, only about 40% of those messages were actually useful feedback, but it's not a bad percentage given the way Internet anonymity can be sometimes.

Duel Mode, created to fill the need of a training mode, is one of the big additions coming to Wizard Wars. It serves as a way for players to go head-to-head with other players with nothing else to get in the way.

Atomic Poison Ivy is basically a plant spider thing

Atomic Wonder Woman? Badass. Atomic Green Lantern? Awesome. Atomic Poison Ivy? Umm. Up until now the Atomic versions of DC heroes you'll be able to play as in the Infinite Crisis MOBA have been pretty great. So the reveal of Atomic Poison Ivy is kind of a bummer. Mostly because she looks ridiculous walking around with her spider-like plant legs.
