Capcom removes Ghosts 'n Goblins Online from Greenlight

What a strange thing it was to see Ghosts 'n Goblins Online surface on Steam Greenlight. I've long wanted to try the game out for curiosity's sake and although I never expected too much from it given the free-to-play premise,...

Review: Tactical Intervention photo
Review: Tactical Intervention
by Allistair Pinsof

[This post originally ran as impressions on the open beta and is now updated to reflect the full release, which came two weeks later.]

Call of Duty has dumbed down the modern shooter to being about planting bombs, capturing points, and getting headshots. In contrast, Tactical Intervention is a breath of fresh air and feels evolutionary in its ideas -- one could say next-gen, but it'd be hard not to laugh when looking at its budget production values. Dog barks sound like Doom imps and the visuals somehow look worse than anything in Half-Life 2, despite having all the niceties that have come to the Source engine since '04.

Before Call of Duty fever swept the nation, I loved online first-person shooters for the chaos that car combat and hostage encounters can bring. I'll never forget surfing on an airplane wing in Battlefield 1942 or using hostages as human shields in a pitch dark cs_mansion in Counter-Strike.

Tactical Intervention brings back the good memories before FPS were marketable to the mainstream, along with reminders that mods like Counter-Strike weren't born with that layer of polish later achieved.

Counter-Strike successor Tactical Intervention out Mar 28

Update: I just received a press release announcing a March 28 release. I guess Gooseman is trying to poke fun at the skeptic in me or make my dreams come true. One of the two. Hurrah? A year ago, Counter-Strike creator Minh '...

Lucky Koreans: Ghosts 'n Goblins Online beta videos

Show of hands if anyone remembers that a Ghosts 'n Goblins Online Korean MMO was unveiled back in 2010. I figured it would have be cancelled by now -- I'm still bitter that Rockman Online was silently shut down. But nope! De...

Resident Evil Revelations for Xbox 360 and PS3

Listings on South Korea's ratings board show 3DS game Resident Evil Revelations as upcoming Xbox 360 and PS3 titles. Wouldn't that be nice? My guess is that this was in the plans all along. A digital download, perhaps?  Let's hear what Capcom says about this. Stay tuned.

Music get: free Bar Oasis download on Dtoid's SoundCloud photo
Music get: free Bar Oasis download on Dtoid's SoundCloud
by Jayson Napolitano

We've got a special treat for you today. We wrote about the Bar Oasis 2 soundtrack in Note Worthy 005, and since that time, the team at Corners Studio has put together a special compilation album featuring remastered selections from Bar Oasis and Bar Oasis 2 with additional remixes titled the Bar Oasis Official Bootleg.

We'll have a review of the album in an upcoming issue of Note Worthy, but in the meantime, Corners Studio has given us permission to offer one of the remixes from the album, "To the Oasis,"  as a free download via our SoundCloud. This is a lovely piano piece that combines the beautiful vocal theme, "Oasis," with the series main theme.

If you just want to stream, check it out below, but there's no reason not to grab it for free. Tell us what you think of Nauts's work and of Bar Oasis if you've played it.

Preview: Bless may be the most beautiful MMO yet photo
Preview: Bless may be the most beautiful MMO yet
by Dale North

Neowiz Games unveiled their work on upcoming massively multiplayer online RPG Bless at the G-Star trade show last weekend in Busan, Korea. I had the chance to get a good look at the latest build of this beautiful, vast MMO as well as spend a little time with early code and talk to members of the Korea-based development team about it.

There's a lot going on in Bless, but what first got my attention was the attractive visuals. Even with as early as it is, this game is stunning.
