Best Buy stores get Lost in Shadow demo

Odd because it's not a Madden NFL title or something with plastic instruments, you'll be able to find a demo for Hudson's upcoming Wii title, Lost in Shadow, at select Best Buy stores starting this week. By "select" I mean th...

Fishing Master now available for iPhone, totally free

Laugh if you must, but I love Fishing Master. Lord knows I have taken abuse for it before. But its charm and gameplay are worth more than anybody who would mock me for enjoying them. And now it'll be even easier for me to tak...

New Lost in Shadow screenshots

We got a batch of images for Hudson's Lost in Shadow tonight. They show off the eighth area of the game (according to the name of the folder they arrived in) and, apparently, there's a lot of water in the level. I know t...

PAX 10: Lost in Shadow deserves a little spotlight photo
PAX 10: Lost in Shadow deserves a little spotlight
by Jim Sterling

It's looking like a golden year for platformers on the Wii. Sonic Colors, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Donkey Kong Country Returns and Epic Mickey are all to come, and with such an excellent roster of games, it would be easy to forget this humble little offering from HudsonSoft -- Lost in Shadow

You'd be wise to make a note of this title though, as my time spent with it at its tiny little PAX Prime booth was more than enough to convince me that it could be something very special.

Half a dozen Lost in Shadow screenshot unveiled

A word like "unveiled" gives an air of drama that probably should not be used to describe the release of screenshots. If I go back and change the headline now, I'll have to spend another twenty minutes trying to find a way to...

In April, Hudson announced the third entry (or fourth, if you count Deca Sports DS) in its multi-million-selling Deca Sports series, Deca Sports 3. This time, the franchise is back on the Wii with ten all-new sporting events, although as a sports fan, I feel like Hudson is reaching with a few of these:

  • springboard diving
  • kayak slalom
  • volleyball
  • giant slalom (skiing)
  • log cutting [really?]
  • racquetball
  • air racing
  • lacrosse
  • halfpipe (snowboarding)
  • fencing

Deca Sports 3 is compatible with Wii MotionPlus; in fact, each of the ten sports can be played in Normal mode (Wii Remote alone) or Master Mode (requires MotionPlus). Master Mode, as you probably guessed, presents a stiffer challenge. I had the chance to play air racing and lacrosse last week in New York, and they're pretty fun -- hit the jump for more.

During E3, Hudson announced that it was bringing its Deca Sports franchise -- which has sold more than 2.5 million units worldwide on Wii and DS -- to Kinect this fall. The controller-free compilation of sports offers the following events:

  • snowboard cross
  • beach volleyball
  • figure skating
  • mogul skiing
  • dodgeball
  • paintball
  • archery
  • boxing
  • tennis
  • kendo

As you can see, many of the mini-games in Freedom aren't what you'd typically expect from a sports title. That's because this game has been designed from the ground up for Kinect -- it's not merely a port of one of the Wii Deca Sports games. I saw the game last week in New York, and came away impressed. (Special thanks to PR man Ron Burgess, who suffered through the indignity of the figure-skating mode for me, when he could've picked any of the other, less dainty games.)
