Star Command 1.01 due soon, and here's how to cheat nasty

May 10 // Niero Desu
The more ghetto your ship is, the better.  Never upgrade the walls or shields.  Simply build rooms to max out your crew count and make them as tough and fast as possible. After you have your crews nestled in the weapon rooms you can watch corgi videos while your ammo charges. If it wasn't for the mini-games the game would nearly complete itself without intervention. You can actually beat the Russian and Wealth missions without issuing a single command. As multiple wall hulls collapse from oncoming fire the probability of teleported enemies getting sucked out into space increases, keeping your babies nestled away from ever facing combat. Derp. You can break the combat further by keeping a soldier directly in front of doors, causing enemies to get stuck or walk out and get sucked into space. To prove that this incredibly cheap strategy works I put the game on the hardest difficulty and easily conquered the hardest optional quest, the second Grol encounter, without losing a single crew member.  Just make sure you wipe them out fast when they get stuck or they'll multiply faster than you can shoot at them. This makes the optional Grol battles a piece of cake, despite their 9000 health. The developer recently submitted a patch which doesn't directly address the games' core flaw, but instead adds some cool features like larger ships. They're also hiring a writer for more missions and promised to continue updating the game, so maybe future patches will address this vulnerability. Until then, its fun to be winningest and worst space captain this side of the cosmos. 1.01 Bug fixes may include:• Added beginner difficulty level• Engineering lagging devices fixed• Unlock larger ships and heavy difficulty• Tips for Minigames• Added missing countdown for a few random “yellow” missions• Grol split period reduced, but increases 2x with every split• Allow touch larger area to grab token• Ammo button now disabled if no more tokens allowed• Assign buttons disabled if room is full• Weapon UI improvements• 3 additional tokens (15 total) given on new game• Max crew increased to match number of rooms• Various other UX tweaks• Other various bugs and adjustments The game has so much potential to be way more engaging. I hope they figure it out. I'd love to be able to invade other ships and see come closer to its Kickstarter vision. Audio credit: Zircon
Beat the Grol, last mission, etc in black hole difficulty by standing still
[Note: Article contains mild mission spoilers] Star Command is totally worth the $3, but the game is hella broken. Ironically, the more of a fiery death inferno your ship becomes the easier the game gets. If you haven't...

So yeah, Aliens: Colonial Marines is pretty glitchy, but considering the lack of entertainment value in every other facet of the game, I guess we have to take our laughs where we can get them.
