Contest: Win a Titan One cross-compatibility gaming device! photo
Contest: Win a Titan One cross-compatibility gaming device!
by Mr Andy Dixon

Our friends at ConsoleTuner have given us five of their new Titan One cross-compatibility devices to hand out to the Destructoid community!

These things are incredibly awesome. Compatible with the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC, they are the ultimate solution for the problem of not being able to use your favorite controller on every console. And because of the ability to swap button layouts, gamers can use this to adjust their controllers to their personal tastes (something especially important to you southpaw gamers). Plus, there's the GamePack feature: with a GamePack loaded, you get all the cool features that modded controllers can provide, without having to modify your controller and void your warranty.

For a chance to win one of these cool devices for yourself, just leave a comment below! Limit one entry per person, and you have until this Friday at 11:59pm Pacific to enter. Contest is open to anyone with a US shipping address.

Good luck! And don't forget, our Huge members get automatic entry into all contests (as well as a bunch of other awesome perks). Try us out!

Don't want to grind for those new Borderlands 2 skins? Just be patient instead photo
Don't want to grind for those new Borderlands 2 skins? Just be patient instead
by Darren Nakamura

Yesterday, a set of new skins and heads for Borderlands 2 released, featuring the Vault Hunters dressed as characters from Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. As it was announced, the customization options would be made available as rare drops, but now it looks like players can expect to get them with a little more consistency, as long as they are willing to wait.

In a post on Gearbox's blog, Jeff Skal details how players can obtain the customizations through Shift codes. Starting with Axton dressed as Athena this Friday, July 18, a new code will be revealed weekly, until August 22 when all six Vault Hunters will have had their due.

So hey! Good news. This game is giving out free cosmetic downloadable content. You may now proceed to the comments to talk about how terrible a different game by the same company is.

Free Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel skins coming to Borderlands 2 on Tuesday photo
Free Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel skins coming to Borderlands 2 on Tuesday
by Darren Nakamura

Over the weekend at GaymerX, Gearbox announced that it would be releasing free Borderlands 2 customization options tomorrow. The idea behind them came from the prolific Borderlands cosplay community, so the Borderlands 2 characters would be dressed as various Pre-Sequel characters. Thanks to Gearbox forum user Norrin Radd, we have the above off-screen image of the Vault Hunters sporting the new skins and heads.

It looks like Gaige is dressed as Moxxi, Salvador as Wilhelm, Axton as Athena, Zer0 as Claptrap, and Maya as Nisha. Even though I have been following Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel fairly closely, I cannot seem to place Krieg's costume. Any ideas out there?

The new customization options should show up as a free title update, but rather than being simply granted to players, they will be included as rare loot drops. It looks like it is about time to start grinding with my Siren again. That cowboy hat is too good to pass up.

If you've been on the fence about Mount & Blade: Warband, here's one way to spend your weekend. Now through Sunday at 1:00pm Pacific, the action game and its open-ended multiplayer battles are free to test out thanks to a promo on Steam.

Folks who get hooked -- the top user review for Warband literally has over a thousand hours of play time on record -- can then buy the title to keep for $4.99. That's a savings of 75 percent.

There's something for existing players, too. Steam Workshop support for mods (of which there are many) has been added, and the Mac and Linux ports of Warband are now out of beta.

Contest: Win your choice of a PS4, Xbox One or Wii U! photo
Contest: Win your choice of a PS4, Xbox One or Wii U!
by Mr Andy Dixon

Destructoid is giving away a free next-gen console! That's right: one lucky Dtoider will get his or her choice of a free Xbox One (minus Kinect), PlayStation 4, or Wii U (deluxe bundle), and all you have to do to enter is push a couple buttons!

To compete, just push the big blue Enter button below and follow the instructions to earn entries. It's that simple! Of course, our Huge members don't need to do a thing; your membership already grants you automatic entry in full. (You can always enter manually to up your odds, though!) Oh, and one more thing: this contest is open to anyone in the world! (Cash value will be rewarded to international winner. For full contest rules, click here.)

Update: As many of you noticed, votes are verified LockerDome, which (amongst other things) makes sure cheaters aren't creating 9999 Dtoid accounts to win. The app wants permissions to use your social media to post (if you allow) but please note they're a legit company not super interested in spying on all your cat photos. You can revoke access, etc, like any other app that uses social connect.

Good luck!

You can now download the Fancy Vivillon in Pokémon X/Y
by Jordan Devore

100 million trades have been made through the Global Trade Station in Pokémon X and Y and, as promised, Game Freak is handing out Fancy Pattern Vivillons for the milestone. Nice job, all!

The distribution event has commenced -- with your online-enabled 3DS, choose "Mystery Gift" from the main menu of either game to receive the new 'mon.

This specific Vivillon can't be obtained any other way, so get to downloading. It knows the move "Hold Hands." Battle effect? "Ally Pokémon hold hands. This makes them very happy." Well then.

A Vivillon of a Different Pattern! [Pokémon]

This month's Club Nintendo rewards include Paper Mario, Kid Icarus photo
This month's Club Nintendo rewards include Paper Mario, Kid Icarus
by Jordan Devore

The Club Nintendo game rewards for this month are in. Hope you aren't averse to repeats:

  • Donkey Kong Jr. (Wii U) - 200 Coins
  • 3D Classics: Kid Icarus (3DS) - 200 Coins
  • Paper Mario (Wii/Wii U) - 250 Coins
  • Metal Torrent (3DS) - 200 Coins

I'd be all over Paper Mario if it were possible to play on Wii U without using Wii Mode. Like, how sweet would full-on GamePad support be? The sweetest.

Nintendo hasn't yet announced this year's rewards for Elite members who have obtained Gold or Platinum status at Club Nintendo, but that info should be coming before too long.

Thomas Was Alone's jetpack DLC is free on Steam
by Jordan Devore

Benjamin's Flight, a set of new levels (and music and lovely narration) for Thomas Was Alone, debuted exclusively on PlayStation systems. Now, here the DLC is on Steam, for free.

You get to use a jetpack in it, so, yeah. Nothing more needs to be said about the subject.

Although, it is worth mentioning Thomas Was Alone is on sale. Fund it with the store credit you earned by flipping Steam Trading Cards, if you must. It's a real charmer.

Free Octodad: Dadliest Catch DLC 'Shorts' coming late summer photo
Free Octodad: Dadliest Catch DLC 'Shorts' coming late summer
by Darren Nakamura

Since its release in January, Octodad: Dadliest Catch has sold over 250,000 copies, according to developer Young Horses. The awkward octopus-in-dad's-clothing simulator is a lot of fun for those who take the time to really learn how to control it, and it looks like we will be seeing more content for the game, at no extra charge. Ah, the wonderful world of indie gaming.

Young Horses says that it had too many ideas to fit neatly into the release version of Octodad: Dadliest Catch, but the studio still wants to explore those ideas through downloadable scenarios. Two of these "Shorts" will be released in a few weeks as a title update. They are meant to be "stand-alone Octodad levels which are self-contained stories."

One screenshot from each level has been released. The first shows Octodad and Scarlet on their first date in a fancy restaurant, while the second involves Tommy and Stacy imagining their dad as a character in a television medical drama. Hopefully things do not get quite as messy as Surgeon Simulator 2013, but with Octodad manning the scalpels, it probably will not end well.

Keep your eyes on GOG.com to get some free games photo
Keep your eyes on GOG.com to get some free games
by Alasdair Duncan

GOG.com's summer sale format is something that almost single handily justifies tabbed web browsers. Whilst its range of flash deals have been worth keeping an eye on, this 24-hour Adrenaline Rush promotion will be offering free games over the next 19 hours.

If you're reading this now, you've already missed getting Omerta: City of Gangsters for free but there's still plenty of big discounts happening.

There's Hotline Miami, Carmageddon II, and Lily Looking Through for just $1.99 whilst more recent titles like Kentucky Route Zero and Broken Sword 5 are half price at $12.49. As always, just keep refreshing and checking back every 30 minutes to check what's new.
