Silent Horror soundtrack is back from the dead and ready to download photo
Silent Horror soundtrack is back from the dead and ready to download
by Darren Nakamura

Back in 2005, a small team made Silent Horror, an independent film homage to survival horror, with obvious nods to the legendary Silent Hill franchise. Before he was Destructoid's Editor-in-Chief, Dale North composed the soundtrack for the film, and almost ten years later, it has finally been made widely available to the public.

Since we have the hookup, we are able to offer the Silent Horror Main Theme for free on our SoundCloud. Stream or download it there, or just listen to it below. If you want to hear more, head over to the soundtrack's Bandcamp or Loudr pages. It should provide you with a spooky soundtrack suitable for your day today.

The co-founder of Devolver Digital has some words for Peter Molyneux photo
The co-founder of Devolver Digital has some words for Peter Molyneux
by Hamza CTZ Aziz

Yesterday, Destructoid ran a story in which designer Peter Molyneux shared his belief that the indie craze will disappear. Specifically, he said that what we're seeing is just a cycle, and that "it won't last."

Many people disagreed with Molyneux's sentiments, including Devolver Digital co-founder Mike Wilson. In an open letter sent to Destructoid, Wilson wrote that indies are making games "because they love it. They aren't competing in secrecy but rather openly collaborating, lifting one another up and inspiring one another. Gamejams!!! And while many of them are doing incredibly well financially, that's not the point, or certainly not the main point. Which we think is what is quite different than the past, at least to our eye."

Read on for the full letter from Mike Wilson.

Critical Hit and The Earthbound Papas co-headline Orlando Nerd Fest 2014 photo
Critical Hit and The Earthbound Papas co-headline Orlando Nerd Fest 2014
by Dale North

Jason Hayes' (World of Warcraft) band, Critical Hit, and Nobuo Uematsu's (Final Fantasy series) band, The Earthbound Papas, will tag team, co-headlining upcoming Orlando Nerd Fest 2014, set for August 9 in Orlando, Florida.

Critical Hit will perform at 10 p.m., bringing their arrangements of songs from Skyrim, Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Halo, Metal Gear Solid, Pokemon, World of Warcraft, Tetris, and more to Stage A. The Earthbound Papas will follow with their set of classic rock performances of popular Final Fantasy tunes. That's a lot of awesome for one stage. Maybe too much!

As a fellow fan of Nobuo Uematsu and his timeless scores, I am honored to co-headline our first Orlando Nerd Fest with his high profile band The Earthbound Papas,” said Jason Hayes. “We cannot wait to share what we’ve been working on with gaming enthusiasts and music fans attending the show.”

Destructoid has the exclusive on Critical Hit's third music video, an arrangement of the Tetris theme. Watch on as they rock out at night on top of a skyscraper, lit only by spotlights.

You can find more on the band, as well as links to their digital and physical albums on the Critical Hit official website.

Archie officially announces Mega Man X crossover event
by Chris Carter

Archie Comics has been busy. In addition to hosting two Sonic comic lines, a Mega Man series, and a crossover event between the three, they've also added "backup" stories to Mega Man #34-35, which feature fan favorites Mega Man X and Zero.

But the blue and red duo are backups no more, as Archie has officially confirmed to Destructoid that they will be joining Mega Man in a full four-part storyline titled "Dawn of X" starting from issue #37. We have the full scoop by way of an interview with Archie's Ian Flynn and Paul Kaminski, as well as an exclusive look at the covers of the first issue in the gallery below!

Exclusive: Suda 51's top 7 Killer is Dead moments
by Jonathan Holmes

Killer is Dead was a day one purchase for me, though from what I hear from my peers, a lot of consumers didn't have the confidence to pick it up upon initial release. With the gift giving holidays just around the corner, and all of your "must-have" games already safely in your possession, maybe this is just the kind of game you'd like to own but not pay for.

Tempted to send your mom out to the local strip mall with instructions to ask the man at the counter to sell her one shiny new copy of Killer is Dead to stuff in your stocking? Check out Suda 51's spoiler-packed favorite moments and see if you're not convinced, and check out our contest for a signed copy of the game while you're at it.

The PS3 is porn console king, 360 is indeed for Teens photo
The PS3 is porn console king, 360 is indeed for Teens
by Steven Hansen

Shortly after the PS4's launch, Pornhub announced that it was the first porn site to fully support the PS4. Destructoid reached out to Pornhub following the announcement and got a load of interesting facts and breakdowns of console porn viewership.

According to Pornhub Vice President Corey Price, "Pornhub is targeting consoles for website support because that is where some of our users today prefer to access our site and our aim is to offer a great user experience across all platforms."

At least percentage wise, this intersection of porn and consoles rings true. The PS3, PS4, Wii, and Xbox 360 users who visit the site have a lower bounce rate than average traffic -- they're more likely to visit more pages rather than split after coming to the site. All four consoles also have a longer visit duration than average traffic, though that could come from those consoles being less efficient than PC visitation. It's hard enough typing on the Xbox 360, but with one hand?

The lion's share of console porn viewing comes from the PS3, which accounts for 55% of console traffic to the Xbox's 39% and the Wii's limp 6%.

What really sticks out, however, is what kind of porn each console indulges in.

Your first look at the new Wreckage map for Hawken photo
Your first look at the new Wreckage map for Hawken
by Hamza CTZ Aziz

Adhesive Games has given Destructoid the first exclusive look at the latest map coming to Hawken. Called Wreckage, the new map is based around a crash-landed derelict cargo ship.

Wreckage ties into the backstory of the series, and it ultimately shows off a microcosm of the battles being fought within the Hawken universe. The cargo ship on the map is the center of attention with the factions of Hawken, as it contains enough parts to make hundreds of mechs, or alternatively repair thousands of them.

The above picture was illustrated by Adhesive CEO Khang Le. Below you can find some in-game shots showing off the level and the carnage you can expect.

Talking about F2P & Phantom Army with Zombie Studios head
by Steven Hansen

Last night, we brought you the first look at Phantom Army, the upcoming (2014) free-to-play third-person shooter from Zombie Studios (Blacklight: Retribution, Daylight) and SmileGate, makers of the massively popular CrossFire.

I talked with Zombie studio head Jared Gerritzen about the game, how the North American opinion has refracted back into worldwide free-to-play design, growing global markets that outnumber the United States, and more.
