Review: Madden 15 photo
Review: Madden 15

Madden 15 on PS3 and 360 is bad garbage that EA shouldn't get away with releasing.

Alright then, onto current-gen.

Ah, so that's where those silly Madden GIFs are coming from

I don't care at all about Madden, but GIFs? Damn you, Electronic Arts. You've won. The company has created a GIF maker for Madden NFL 15, "designed to help fans celebrate their favorite team's biggest plays and challenge thei...

EA Access adding Need for Speed Rivals, more trials

When it was announced, I thought EA Access sounded like a decent value depending on your personal gaming habits. That's still where I'm at. This month's addition to the Vault, Need for Speed Rivals, doesn't do much to change ...

Madden 15 glitches: 1 foot tall players, rocketing linemen, & more

Madden 15 is out. I will write more on the game this week (preview: the PS3 and 360 versions are a shady cash grab and missing new features).  Until then, let's have some fun.

Not enough basketball in this NBA Live 15 trailer

After taking several years to reboot NBA Live and still stumbling out of the gate with a crummy NBA Live 14 last year, EA isn't winning anyone over with a Visuals video or a face scanning video or a cover star announcem...

NHL 15 demo is up on PS4 and Xbox One

You can play as either the New York Rangers or LA Kings, test out that new skill stick they're flaunting, or go into a free skate practice mode if you're new.

Shadow Realms, the new BioWare RPG, has a lot of strong and unique ideas photo
Shadow Realms, the new BioWare RPG, has a lot of strong and unique ideas
by Brett Makedonski

Anytime you sit in on an early look at a new videogame, the presentation's sort of structured the same. Throughout the introduction to the title, the developers always -- always -- pepper the speech with catchy phrases about the approach that they wanted to take, their influences, and what they want to elicit from the players.

BioWare's showing of its newly announced Shadow Realms at gamescom 2014 fell right in line with these expectations. What makes it noteworthy is the sheer amount that the studio hopes to accomplish. After listening and talking to developers from BioWare at gamescom, it's evident that they have big ambitions for Shadow Realms. It's a title that aspires to do a lot of different things in a lot of different ways, and it's unclear right now how some of it will be executed. But, there appears to be solid framework to build around for now.

As was expected with the advent of the EA Access program, the EA Sports Season Ticket and Arena initiatives are phasing out. If you have a Season Ticket it will run until the end of March 2015, at which point it will expire -...

Wear the carcass of Chester Cheetah in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare

I was prepared to get mildly annoyed at this Cheetos partnership with Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, despite the fact that it's not the first time the game has dabbled in brand-sponsored character variants. (There were ...

Play Garden Warfare, Kingdoms of Amalur for free on Origin for a limited time photo
Play Garden Warfare, Kingdoms of Amalur for free on Origin for a limited time
by Jordan Devore

Through Origin's Game Time program, it's currently possible to play Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare and Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning for free -- for a limited time, of course. Simply download either game and, once you launch it, the clock will begin counting down.

For Garden Warfare, which I cannot recommend enough -- seriously, now's your chance! -- Origin users are getting unlimited access for 72 hours, while Kingdoms of Amalur is restricted to 48 hours of free play. It's unclear how long these offers will remain valid, so I wouldn't wait too long if you're interested. Something to play over the weekend, perhaps.

Garden Warfare's Suburbination update adds another mode and character photo
Garden Warfare's Suburbination update adds another mode and character
by Jordan Devore

This week's free new update for Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare adds Suburbination mode, a capture-and-defend game type in the same vein as Battlefield's Conquest and Call of Duty's Domination. Gardens & Graveyards is still where it's at, but this is a decent distraction.

The DLC also includes the Plasma Peashooter, who is playable immediately without the need to spend in-game coins; the Crash Course map; more stuff for Garden Ops including the vampiric Baron Von Bats boss and the Treasure Yeti; and a bunch of "bling" customization items.

Garden Warfare has become my go-to "unwinding" game and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Finding an annoying hiding place as the zombie soldier and picking off plants is way too satisfying to stop. You're in for a treat next week, PlayStation gamers.
