The UI and difficulty levels in Thief are moddable

Some of the worries about the new Thief title from Eidos Montreal come from how a studio can make a big-budget stealth game that will appeal to a mass audience. Hardcore fans of the series worry that the game will watered dow...

Here's a look at the world of the new Thief game

I'm eagerly anticipating Eidos Montreal's reboot of Thief but I've had my concerns. Despite the studio's good work with Deus Ex: Human Revolution, I worried about how the team would follow on from Thief: Deadly Shadows. This...

Eidos could be next in line to make a Final Fantasy game

Handing off the development of an established Japanese series to a western studio isn't the most shocking idea around. When both Silent Hill and Devil May Cry were feared long in the tooth, Konami and Capcom, respectively, le...

How to upgrade Deus Ex PC with the Director's Cut content

On PC, new players can dive right into Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut with a full $19.99 purchase, but there are other money-saving options for the rest of us who own the base game already and want that new content....

Deus Ex: Human Revolution costs more on Wii U photo
Deus Ex: Human Revolution costs more on Wii U

Looks like Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut is going to cost extra if you're planning on getting the Wii U version. Nintendo Everything has checked prices at a few retailers and it turns out the final price on Nintendo's platform will be $50 -- that's $20 more expensive than the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. That price is consistent across Amazon, GameStop, and Best Buy.

This doesn't appear to be the case in the UK however, with the Wii U version slightly cheaper at £23.99 on Amazon.co.uk, compared to the 360 and PS3 versions which are £24.99. The PC version on Amazon costs just £14.36. Other UK retailers, like GAME and Play.com, have priced the Wii U version at £29.99.

I can understand the annoyance at paying more for a game that's cheaper on other platforms but in this case I can sort of see justifying charging more. The Wii U GamePad support is pretty extensive and those are features gamers won't necessarily get on another platform. Still, I'd be really interested to see a breakdown of how sales of the Director's Cut were split between all platforms, especially as this is the first time Human Revolution has appeared on Wii U.

This gameplay trailer for Thief ticks all the right boxes

There's a fairly short list of things that I'd want to see in a new Thief game: water arrows, sneaking past guards, shiny trinkets ripe for the plunder, some casual pickpocketing, and a city shrouded in a seemingly endless n...

Next-gen Deus Ex in development at Eidos Montreal photo
Next-gen Deus Ex in development at Eidos Montreal

That Deus Ex: Universe trademark? It's not what it might've sounded like. Eidos Montreal has lifted the lid on its future plans for the franchise, which include multiple games for PC/consoles as well as mobile titles, books, and graphic novels -- that's what Universe is all about.

"The concept behind Deus Ex: Universe is to create an ongoing, expanding and connected game world built across a generation of core games," writes studio head David Anfossi. "It's a commitment on our part to deliver meaningful content that expands the franchise on a regular basis and to deliver a deep conspiracy that will span several connected Deus Ex games, creating a more immersive and richer experience than ever before."

An important first step is a new core game from the team behind Human Revolution. Announced for next-generation consoles and PC, the title is currently in production and you can see the first concept art above. We actually asked for this! "[The artwork] shows trans-humanism segregation, which is a backdrop to our vision for the next Deus Ex," says Anfossi.

"It represents a "ghetto-city' voluntarily built in order to separate the classes. The people in this segregated class have reshaped their environment, nostalgic for their ideal of Cyber Renaissance. This dark and dystopian vision sets the tone for things to come in Deus Ex."

We've been talking a lot about some big AAA games the past few days, so what's one more to close out the week?

Thief is looking mighty fine based on our hands-on time, and we're going to have wait until next year before we can steal whatever we want. Thief will be out on February 25, 2014 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

In the mean time, here's a brand new cinematic trailer that showcases what's going on in the overall world while you're busy stealing things. The rich are taking everything from themselves, while the poor struggle to survive.
