Kick some ass on June 3 in the EA Sports UFC demo

As Stroke 9 once inquired, how many people want to kick some ass? If your answer is a resounding "I do! I do!," you have anger issues. Also, you might enjoy knowing that there's an imminent demo for EA Sports UFC. The bone-br...

EA Sports UFC looks ultra-freakin' real photo
EA Sports UFC looks ultra-freakin' real
by Dale North

Look, I'm not necessarily a MMA fan, but I have played a few games and watched a few matches in my day. The latest, EA Sports UFC, is a pretty good time, even for a casual player like myself. I took on Digital Trends' Adam Rosenberg in a casual match and beat the living daylights out of him in the first round using Bruce Lee. Somehow the button-per-limb control scheme really clicks with me, and I had the advantage because I've used the game's stick-based grapple controls before.

Of course, he knocked the sh*t out of me the next two rounds after getting the controls down.

E3: EA announces multi-year partnership with UFC
by Chris Carter

[Update: Turns out that THQ sold the rights to EA for an "undisclosed cash payment," which is of more immediate use to the ailing publisher.]

In what is soon to be huge news for UFC fans, EA and UFC president Dana White have just announced an official partnership to bring UFC games under the EA banner in a multi-year deal. If you know anything about Dana White's notoriously big mouth, you'll remember that he consistently jabbed at EA, even going so far as saying he's "at war."

Well, it seems as if time (and most likely money) heals old wounds, as THQ looks to be out of the picture going forward. Dana seems excited to bring the UFC franchise into the "half a billion fans in homes worldwide." Overall, White said it best: "This is a huge day for the UFC."

Review: EA Sports MMA

Quite a bit of attention has been put on mixed martial arts due to the marketing efforts of Zuffa, UFC's Parent company. This attention has not only made UFC a household name, but has changed the sport as well.

EA Sports MMA is not just an alternative to the UFC game, it's an MMA history lesson. So many aspects left out of THQ's UFC game are featured in EA Sports' title. From the various fight rule types to the legendary commentators, this is an MMA fan's MMA game.

Perhaps not a complete knock out blow, this is still a hard, stiff right to the THQ's reigning champ.

Realistic, shiny, sweaty dudes featured in EA Sports MMA
