Gears of War and Shoot Many Robots on Games with Gold photo
Gears of War and Shoot Many Robots on Games with Gold
by Darren Nakamura

Microsoft's "Games with Gold" initiative has been picking up steam lately, with two games being offered free of charge to Xbox Live Gold members every month since its inception. I usually don't get to benefit from it due to already owning the titles in question, but late next month I'll be able to snag Shoot Many Robots for free. Rad.

Gold members who don't already own the original Gears of War will be able to experience the game that popularized cover-based third-person shooters during this past generation, in all of its chainsaw-bayoneted glory. For the month of December, Gears of War will be free until the 15th while Shoot Many Robots will be featured from the 16th onward.

Review: Borderlands 2: Ravenous Wattle Gobbler photo
Review: Borderlands 2: Ravenous Wattle Gobbler
by Darren Nakamura

Last month, the first Headhunter DLC pack for Borderlands 2 released, celebrating Halloween with T.K. Baha's Bloody Harvest. The Headhunter series aims to be quick and inexpensive, offering a couple of holiday-themed missions for just a few dollars apiece.

Next in the series is the Thanksgiving flavored content, with a title as stuffed as our stomachs will be in two days: The Horrible Hunger of the Ravenous Wattle Gobbler. While it follows the same general format as the previous entry, Wattle Gobbler has a bit more of the signature Borderlands charm, which benefits it in the end.

SoulCalibur: Lost Swords is Namco's next F2P game

I love the SoulCalibur series, and I love what free-to-play games can offer, but a match made in heaven, these two are not. SoulCalibur: Lost Swords, is a free-to-play game similar to what we saw in Namco Bandai's last F2P e...

Crimson Dragon is neat, messy, and not entirely on-rails photo
Crimson Dragon is neat, messy, and not entirely on-rails
by Steven Hansen

For some reason, Crimson Dragon feels like the weirdest Xbox One launch title. Maybe that can be attributed to the spiritual Panzer Dragoon sequel's tumultuous development (from 360 Kinect exclusive to budget, $20 Xbox One game).

I didn't get try out any of those carry-over Kinect functionality that's been talked about, like the ability to barrel role by leaning my body -- news that would make the early Mario Kart-playing me "woah" in amazement. Thankfully, the controller worked just fine.

Well, except for the really lazy, floaty reticule. I don't know if ii's supposed to be that dragons are unwieldy means of transport or what.
