Register SMT IV and Fire Emblem and get $30 eShop credit photo
Register SMT IV and Fire Emblem and get $30 eShop credit
by Dale North

Niiiiiiiiice! When I caught early word of this deal I just grinned. What a wonderful way to get two of the best role-playing games I've played in a long time in the hands of more gamers.

Here's how it works: Register both upcoming Atlus RPG Shin Megami Tensei IV and the brilliant strategy RPG Fire Emblem: Awakening on your Club Nintendo account and get a $30 credit to use in Nintendo's eShop for the 3DS. Both retail and digital purchases of either game are eligible, too. So if you already have Fire Emblem Awakening (you should!), know that you're in for a free $30 credit when you pick up SMT IV. How freakin' awesome is that?

This deal begins on July 16 and runs through August 31.

So if you were on the fence about Shin Megami Tensei IV, get off. This game is amazing. And if you think about it, you're getting the game, a collectible case, a strategy book, a CD, and a bonus $30 to spend.

Come back tomorrow morning for our full Shin Megami Tensei IV review. A preview? It's fantastic.

Club Nintendo offers refunds for Super Metroid purchases

Recently, Club Nintendo offered up Super Metroid for 150 coins -- a modest offering, right? There's only one problem: the game was set to go on sale for $0.30 on May 15th. As a result, Nintendo is offering up a 150 Coin refun...

PSA: Tank! Tank! Tank! nets you free Club Nintendo coins photo
PSA: Tank! Tank! Tank! nets you free Club Nintendo coins
by Chris Carter

I downloaded Tank! Tank! Tank! yesterday for free on the Wii U eShop, and I have to say, despite the fact that it may not be worth a full retail asking price, it's a great time-wasting free download. But it seems as if that's not the only thing it's good for, as an astute reader pointed out this morning that the game also counts towards your Club Nintendo membership.

If you simply connect your Club Nintendo account to your Wii U (a one-time requirement) and download Tank! Tank! Tank! from the eShop, you'll score 60 coins right off the bat, and 10 coins for a post-game survey. Whether this is a mistake on Nintendo's end or intended (the listing does note "download version" after all), one thing's for sure -- go download the game now even if you have no intention of playing it!

[Thanks Michael!]

European Club Nintendo members can now earn eShop Stars photo
European Club Nintendo members can now earn eShop Stars
by Chris Carter

Some time ago, Nintendo started allowing easy rewards through linking your Club Nintendo account with your Wii U and 3DS in North America. Basically, you just buy games from the eShop, and the reward surveys would just pop up in your account, allowing you to earn Coins for digital or physical items. This convenient system (which uses Stars rather than Coins) has been completely absent in Europe however -- that is, until now.

Nintendo enthusiast NintenDaan recently discovered that he could earn Stars for eShop purchases, which was later confirmed by multiple sources. Basically, just link your account, log into Club Nintendo, and after a delay, the surveys will be readily available. That's it.

Now if Nintendo would only get to work on linking your 3DS and Wii U entirely with a global account...

Club Nintendo offers Mario 64, Super Metroid, and more photo
Club Nintendo offers Mario 64, Super Metroid, and more
by Chris Carter

If you're a Club Nintendo member with 150-200 coins, you're free to go explore the Club's website and nab one of the following four games: Super Metroid (Wii VC - 150 Coins), Kirby's Pinball Land (3DS VC - 150 Coins), Mario 64 (Wii VC - 200 Coins), and Urban Champion (3DS eShop - 150 Coins).

Note that the Wii Virtual Console games can be redeemed on a Wii U using the Wii emulation application. These are all recycled, but hey, I'm sure someone hasn't grabbed them yet. Note that Super Metroid will be part of the $0.30 Wii U Virtual Console promotion from May 15th until June 13th.

As for recommendations, everyone needs to play Super Metroid -- it's a no brainer. Kirby's Pinball Land is one of my favorite pinball games to date, but it won't blow you away if you're not a pinball fan. Mario 64 may be dated, but it's one of my favorite 3D Mario games, and my personal favorite behind Galaxy 2.

Urban Champion...well...it's Urban Champion.
