Microsoft isn't planning to bring more Halo games to Steam

Even though Microsoft says it has a "renewed focus on Windows and PC gaming" internally, we've been hearing that sentiment for a while and little if anything has come to fruition yet. It'd be unexpected for the company to bri...

This PlayStation 4 ad doubles as a Destiny ad

The real life version of the Halo sword kind of sucks

Master arms maker Man at Arms is back, this time taking on the Halo Elite energy sword. The concept looks cool in the game, but it kind of sucks in real life as it's not really practical. Look at how floppy it is! It will still cut a fool, you just got to wiggle it around a little to really get in deep. It'll look cool mounted on a wall or something at least.

You can expect a Destiny beta this summer

Activision hasn't exactly downplayed what its expectations for Bungie's Destiny are. Just yesterday during an earnings call, CEO Bobby Kotick proclaimed that he expects it to be "the best selling videogame in history." A...

Activision: Destiny to be 'next billion dollar franchise'

During their Q4 2013 financial results, Activision CEO Bobby Kotick proclaimed that Bungie's Destiny will be the "next billion dollar franchise" for the company. He expects it to be "the best-selling videogame in history," in fact. That's a pretty tall order, Activision. Destiny is going to be great, but best-selling videogame in history? Good luck with that!

Enjoy these Destiny screens with your morning coffee

While the initial reveal left a bad taste in my mouth, I'd be insane to say I wasn't looking forward at all to Destiny. It's easily one of my most anticipated games of 2014 in fact, I just hope Bungie can deliver on their vision. In the mean time, enjoy some new screens from Destiny. It's probably stupid that I'm overly excited on discovering new cloaks to wear in the game, huh?

Destiny may require you to group up for end-game missions

Unlike Titanfall, it is possible to play Destiny all by your lonesome, and ignore all the grouping and social features -- to a point. Bungie's Jason Jones explained exactly what they have planned to Game Informer, and it...

So far away: Destiny launches September 9, 2014
by Jordan Devore

Bungie is releasing its next shooter, Destiny, on September 9, 2014 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, and PS4. Is that far enough removed from Titanfall's debut in March? Not that we can't have and enjoy both games, which will probably be the case for many of us.

Sometime this summer, the beta for Destiny will go live and it's coming to Sony consoles first, according to the company. I'm now thinking back to the first we heard about the game officially, which was a bunch of promises and some miscellaneous concept art back in February.

I know it's hard to keep quiet when excitement runs rampant, but jeez! This promotional cycle is a bit much.

That 19-year-old Skyrim modder landed a dream job

Alexander Velicky's massive Falskaar mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim impressed us back in July. What got me the most was that a large part of his motivation for this mod was to get a job at Bethesda. While that hasn't hap...

Xbox Live Gold members can now download Halo 3 for free photo
Xbox Live Gold members can now download Halo 3 for free
by Brett Makedonski

Well, here's the much-welcomed end to this bungled saga. After being perpetually confused as to when Halo 3 would make its appearance as one of the titles in Microsoft's Games with Gold program, Xbox Live Gold members can finally download Master Chief's 2007 odyssey for free right now through the end of the month.

I'd imagine that it has to be a pretty minuscule sect that actually wants to play Halo 3, but hasn't already. I mean, did you see the part up top where I mentioned it's from 2007? At least some people can upgrade to a digital version before giving their disc to the newspaper boy as a half-assed Christmas present. Oh yeah, no one reads the newspaper anymore. Well, you figure it out then.

Now we can wrap up complaining about this Games with Gold title before moving onto complaining about the next Games with Gold title.

Halo 3 will be free later this month on Xbox Live photo
Halo 3 will be free later this month on Xbox Live
by Jordan Devore

Tomorrow, you'll be able to nab Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes for free on Xbox Live -- assuming you are a Gold member. Again, this masterful puzzle game from Capybara is worth the small amount of effort required to start the download. Do check it out.

October's second Games with Gold title doesn't need as much of an introduction: it's Halo 3. The full game will be available on Xbox Live starting October 16, 2013. People are still buying Xbox 360s for the first time, it should be pointed out. But still -- Halo 3?

Of course Microsoft would feature this, so at least we're getting it out of the way.
