Currently, the only way to get Killer Instinct Classic is by purchasing either the Ultra ($39.99) or Ultimate ($59.99) edition of Double Helix's new Killer Instinct. I say "currently" because these things have a habit of gett...

Caitlin Oliver goes for a new Splatterhouse record LIVE

A lot of people cite Super Metroid as the first game that showed them how tense and isolated videogames can make them feel. For me, that realization came four years earlier when I picked up Splatterhouse on the Turbograf...

Plants vs Zombies: The Last Stand is an arcade game

A new image on Sega's arcade Facebook page teases a new Plants vs. Zombies game. It gives no information other than a name: Plants vs. Zombies: The Last Stand. The name sounds cool but we have no idea what kind of game this would be. A full-on arcade cabinet? A redemption machine? It's going to be cool, whatever it is.  We'll bring you more information on this game as soon as we get it.

Locomalito takes us back to the '80s with Verminian Trap photo
Locomalito takes us back to the '80s with Verminian Trap
by Jordan Devore

It doesn't have the same scope as Maldita Castilla or Hydorah -- two remarkable titles that are inexplicably free to download -- but the latest freeware release from Locomalito is worth checking out for fans of no-nonsense arcade games. Download it here.

This three-week project is all about shooting bugs endlessly for high scores on a single screen. It's best played with a buddy (or three!), so Conrad and I decided to put together a quick video to show off the co-op. I'm continually amazed by Locomalito's ability to work across different genres and distill their best titles into an original work that doesn't feel like a rehash.

LocoCycle is more fun than it might initially look

For a while now, I've had the urge to play a Spy Hunter-like game. (But not, oddly enough, an honest-to-goodness, actual Spy Hunter -- trust me, I've tried.) I'm starting to look toward Twisted Pixel for a helping hand. Loco...

Nick Arcade, the 21st century Mega64 reboot

One of the coolest game shows from back in the day was Nick Arcade on Nickelodeon. For those too young to remember or living outside the US, it was a quiz show with a videogame hook. There would be "Video Challenge" rounds i...
