Anarchy Reigns: it's all about music with Platinum Games photo
Anarchy Reigns: it's all about music with Platinum Games
by Jayson Napolitano

We had a blast with the Anarchy Reigns both in our soundtrack review and later with some music samples. I enjoyed it so much, in fact, that I wanted to speak with Platinum Games composer Naoto Tanaka (MadWorld, Anarchy Reigns) as well as a number of the rappers involved about some of my favorite tracks from the game.

Not only do we have full-length samples for you to enjoy this time, but we've also got liner notes-style commentary from Tanaka and rappers Vstylez, Sick YG, and Doujah Raze. So kick back, listen to some our favorite tracks from the game, and learn more about what made this project so unique in the process.

Anarchy Reigns Achievement and Trophy Guide photo

Action games can be a bit complicated, and by the time a lot of people pick up the game and play online, everyone else has mastered it (Metal Gear Online immediately comes to mind).

Despite the fact that Anarchy Reigns doesn't have the hardest Achievements and Trophies in the world, I figured some tips could help a few people brawl their way to the top of the leaderboards, and get further enjoyment out of the game.

The Anarchy Reigns OST is awesome, check out some samples photo
The Anarchy Reigns OST is awesome, check out some samples

Even if you're not a fan of hip hop, the silly and over-the-top Anarchy Reigns soundtrack has a lot to offer. There are some great melodies courtesy of Platinum Games composer Naoto Tanaka along with the vocal talents of a slew of rappers and artists. As much as I loved the soundtrack for MadWorld, Anarchy Reigns surpasses it in every way possible.

We ran a review of the soundtrack back in July 2012 to correspond with the Japanese release, but wanted to present it once more now that the game is out in North America. Check it out below along with samples of five tracks from the game, and if you're interested, it can still be imported from CD Japan for about $33 USD, and Sega has even uploaded it to iTunes for $9.99.

Review: Anarchy Reigns photo
Review: Anarchy Reigns
by Chris Carter

The time has finally come. After numerous delays, and nearly a year of waiting after the Japanese release, Max Anarchy, known internationally as Anarchy Reigns, is finally here.

Conceptually, the game is basically a "Greatest Hits" of Platinum's offerings so far, incorporating elements of Bayonetta, MadWorld, Vanquish, and more, all set over the backdrop of fiendishly large arenas.

While it doesn't surpass any of Platinum's releases so far outside of MadWorld, it comes very close to all of them, and I'm very confident in saying "Platinum's still got it, baby."

Pre-order Anarchy Reigns, receive in-game Bayonetta

Anarchy Reigns tops MadWorld in battle of beats

I loved the MadWorld soundtrack. It offered a perfect blend of angry, descriptively-violent hip hop and rap lyrics with the melodic sensibilities of PlatinumGames composer Naoto Tanka. I know there are those who didn't apprec...

Bayonetta joins the Brawl...ing cast of Anarchy Reigns! photo
Bayonetta joins the Brawl...ing cast of Anarchy Reigns!
by Jonathan Holmes

Anyone remember Sasha from Anarchy Reigns? She's the violent lady who looks nothing like Bayonetta except for the fact that they both have big shiny butts. That was enough to get some people to call her a Bayonetta clone. Butts -- they mean a lot to people. In fact, if you look up "Anarchy Reigns Big Butt" in the Dtoid search field, that story about Sasha is the first thing that comes up.

Strangely enough, if you look up "Anarchy Reigns Big Booty", a story about the relatively small-butted Mathilda is the first thing you get. Go figure.

I've got to wonder how Sasha feels right now? I imagine it's hard not to fear being upstaged by someone like Bayonetta. The stand-in will now go toe to toe with the starlet. That's got to be intimidating.

Personally, I'm hoping Sasha comes out on top here. I tend to be a sucker for underdogs. That's not to say I don't like Bayonetta too. She's a great break dancer, an above average magic user, and I really like that she's totally covered in hair. That said, I still don't see why she's so quick to act horny and/or take off all her "clothes" in the middle of a fight. Doesn't seem very practical

First Look: Bayonetta in Anarchy Reigns [Andriasang]
