Go behind the scenes with this Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare video

In a new behind the scenes look at Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's animation and art styling, new motion capture techniques were showcased that may finally bring true believable faces to gaming. That's what they said when I...

Review: Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark

High Moon Studios set a decent bar with its Activision-published Transformers games in terms of quasi film tie-ins (though the crown still goes to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, in my book). None of them were mind-blowingly good, but they succeeded in setting their own tone while staying inline with the film series, and delivered a mostly enjoyable action romp with a fun horde mode before it was featured in every game ever.

Here on the advent of the worst-reviewed Transformers film yet is by far the worst game so far in the franchise -- it's a shame High Moon couldn't have had a crack at it.

Platinum is making a Legend of Korra game, and it's pretty awesome photo
Platinum is making a Legend of Korra game, and it's pretty awesome
by Hamza CTZ Aziz

Yup, you read that headline correctly. Platinum Games, the maker of such fine titles as Mad World, Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising, The Wonderful 101, and more, is creating a game based on The Legend of Korra series. It's being published by Activision as a download-only title for PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4.

We all saw the reveal teaser yesterday, but now it's time I told you how the game plays. Platinum is aiming to ship this one out in the fall of this year, and based on what I got to play of the alpha build, the game is shaping up to be a pretty solid action brawler.

The Legend of Korra game announced, developed by Platinum Games

I'm not really much a fan of the Avatar series, but I might become one after this. It was just announced that Platinum Games, the developers of Bayonetta, Vanquish, and Metal Gear Rising, are working on the official video gam...

Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark trailer has a dinosaur and Linkin Park

Look, Transformers. As preposterously dangerous as all this mechanized warfare is, we let it slide. But, Linkin Park? That's a clear violation of the Geneva Convention and rightfully considered an international war crime. Someone book Optimus Prime a one-way ticket to The Hague.

Advanced Warfare's exoskeleton to redefine how you play Call of Duty

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's tagline is "power changes everything," and Sledgehammer's doing its best to explain what that means. There are lots of futuristic enhancements being made, but it's not likely that any are mor...

It looks like Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark has a horde mode

Activision put out a trailer showing off Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark's Escalation mode, which it's presumably titled because things escalate as it goes on. Or something like that. Look, you get to play as a Transformer, okay? Maybe that'll shut your dumb friend up that asks "Think that's Optimus Prime?" about every semi you pass on the interstate.

New Call of Duty focuses on being realistic forty years in the future

For the most part, Call of Duty has dealt with past or present scenarios up until now. But, Advanced Warfare is going to move the story ahead forty years. How can Sledgehammer Games craft a realistic future when it...

Do you love setpieces? You'll probably like Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare photo
Do you love setpieces? You'll probably like Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
by Brett Makedonski

The last decade has brought us ten new Call of Duty games. With that steady drip of titles, the series' developers have figured out how to craft increasingly elaborate action scenarios. Despite being at it for a while, the franchise shows no signs of slowing down. That's great news for players that like their games with plenty of adrenaline-fueled moments.

At E3, Activision was showing Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare in hands-off presentations. While that format isn't very conducive to getting a good feel for games, the demo did a fine job of driving home the point that Advanced Warfare is going to be laced with over-the-top setpieces.

Halo players will be right at home with Destiny's PvP photo

Along with our open world walkthrough, Max Scoville and I went ahead and checked out the competitive multiplayer in Destiny. We gave both maps a spin, and we also checked out each playable class for the videos.

The biggest thing you need to know is that all the weapons you can carry in the main game can be brought into multiplayer. Even bigger, you can switch your guns at any time from your inventory while in the middle of the match. No grabbing guns from the ground, no limited loadouts, just whatever you have with you. Up to at least 18 guns!

Watch us play an hour's worth Destiny's open world photo
Watch us play an hour's worth Destiny's open world
by Hamza CTZ Aziz

The folks at Bungie gave Destructoid full access to the Destiny Alpha just before E3. You may remember that I wasn't all that excited for the game the last time I saw it, but having full freedom to do whatever and being able to discover things on my own has really changed my opinion.

I'm way more excited for Destiny again now, and you can see why as Max Scoville and I play nearly an hour's worth of the open world aspect known as Patrols. Plus we went and checked out the social space hub called The Tower at the very end of our playthrough.

For more on Destiny, check out Chris Carter's full hands-on breakdown, and we'll have some videos of the multiplayer PvP stuff later today.

Review: Call of Duty: Ghosts: Invasion photo
Review: Call of Duty: Ghosts: Invasion
by Chris Carter

So far in the saga that is Call of Duty: Ghosts, the fun factor of the game has increased tremendously through the first two map packs -- Onslaught and Devastation, which allow you to play as Michael Meyers and Predator, respectively. Slowly but surely Infinity Ward has been addressing concerns from Ghosts, adding in more interesting locations on top of a ton of little extras that add up over time.

Although Invasion doesn't have a gimmick as strong as say, a playable horror or action movie villain, its tricks are more spread out over the entire DLC, making for one of the best map packs yet.
