Borderlands 2 has seen tons of downloadable content over the past year, but it is finally coming to the end (at least, until they announce some more). After two characters, four big narrative campaigns, two level increases, ...
Last month, the first Headhunter DLC pack for Borderlands 2 released, celebrating Halloween with T.K. Baha's Bloody Harvest. The Headhunter series aims to be quick and inexpensive, offering a couple of holiday-themed missions for just a few dollars apiece.
Next in the series is the Thanksgiving flavored content, with a title as stuffed as our stomachs will be in two days: The Horrible Hunger of the Ravenous Wattle Gobbler. While it follows the same general format as the previous entry, Wattle Gobbler has a bit more of the signature Borderlands charm, which benefits it in the end.
As part of its Black Friday deals week, Amazon has five noteworthy discounts on digitally-distributed PC games, including BioShock, BioShock 2, and BioShock Infinite bundled together for $15. It was not long ago that I was th...
Borderlands 2 is getting some DLC for Thanksgiving, called The Horrible Hunger of the Ravenous Wattle Gobbler. First of all, that name is amazing. This is the second set of Headhunter DLC, following T.K. Baha's Bloo...
XCOM: Enemy Unknown was one of my favorite games of 2012. As a fan of the original franchise back in the '90s, I felt like it did an excellent job of not only re-introducing the once-beloved franchise back into the fold for newcomers, but also providing veterans with a fulfilling strategy experience. Developer Firaxis is now revisiting the XCOM universe with Enemy Within, a new expansion pack set to augment the original game.
Leaping back in, I immediately jumped at the prospect of creating an Exosquad-esque mech soldier with the new Within content. I named him Duke Nukem, gave him a blonde buzz cut, and pumped tons of credits into his loadout -- I even had a brief vision of completing the game with him, sticking through the thick and thin. Then he promptly died on the very next level.
Yep, this is still XCOM alright, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
BioShock Infinite was one of the most polarizing releases in recent memory among the gaming community. While a number of critics lauded it as an apex for Irrational, many fans were left feeling underwhelmed by certain facets of the design, some of which felt like a regression for the franchise.
I really enjoyed Infinite myself, but I'm also fully willing to admit that there were a number of design flaws that detracted from the experience. Some of those issues are directly addressed in Burial at Sea, but in the process, others are created. Uh oh!
2K Games is offering four different bundles on various games from their library. On the PC, you can get XCOM: Enemy Unknown and Sid Meier's Civilization V in the 2K Definitive Strategy Collection.
The rest of the three bundle...
Borderlands 2's huge array of downloadable content has inarguably had its ups and downs. At its worst, we have seen simple cosmetic additions like new outfit colors and heads (which seem doubly silly considering the game's predominantly first-person perspective). At its best, we've experienced a truly heartfelt story inside of a substantial campaign addition, with a plethora of new enemies to fight in Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep.
The new Headhunter series of DLC aims to be something in between those two extremes. Rather than providing a substantial set of side story missions across several locales, the Headhunter content intends to be more bite-sized, with a price to match. T.K. Baha's Bloody Harvest is Halloween-themed, so perhaps "fun-sized" is the more apt adjective to use, and while shooting things in the face while numbers fly out is as fun as it has ever been, there really isn't much new to find here.
Yesterday, Polygon got word of a massive layoff that hit BioShock 2 and The Bureau: XCOM Declassified developer 2K Marin. "We can confirm staff reductions at 2K Marin," the statement read. "While these were difficult decisio...
A spooky, Halloween-themed adventure is coming to Borderlands 2 next week with the arrival of T.K. Baha's Bloody Harvest. The first in the series of "Headhunter" content releases, players will be guided by T.K. Baha's corpse ...
XCOM: Enemy Unknown on iOS has received a new update that brings in asynchronous multiplayer. Additionally the update brings in iOS7 optimization and a newly implemented leaderboard.
The game usually goes for $19.99, but it's on sale for $9.99. Check out our review to see why the mobile version is worth picking up.
If you haven’t played the eXcellent XCOM: Enemy Unknown, you should. However, now there is a caveat to that. You should play it, but you should probably wait until November 12 to do so because that’s when the Enemy Within eXpansion comes out
Those who own Enemy Unknown on PC or Mac will need to plunk $30 down on the expansion and start a new XCOM campaign to eXperience the content. Console owners can nab a bundle of Enemy Unknown, all its DLC, and Enemy Within for $40, which is a particularly lovely deal if you haven’t picked the game up yet.
Back in August we learned that the Borderlands 2: Game of the Year Edition was on its way, and today it's out in North America. For those who have been able to hold out on the lootfest for the past year, this bundle includes...
BioShock Infinite's Burial At Sea Episode 1 is on the way, and you can get a quick look at the first five minutes courtesy of Irrational Games above. Although there are obvious spoilers as to the setup of the DLC, not a whole lot is revealed, as the video is mostly just a walking and talking affair.
I still think it's weird to see the Elizabeth we know and love turned into a cold-hearted smoker (that based on this video, feels a lot more generic and less likeable), but we'll see if Irrational has a method to this madness when the DLC actually drops.
It's here! It's finally here! Pokemon X and Y is out this week for the 3DS and it's pretty much going to be the only thing anyone talks about leading up to the next-gen consoles. Oh, Beyond: Two Souls is also out this week. It has emotions and stuff. You like emotions, right?
Other biggies this week are two repacked re-releases: Borderlands 2 and Dishonored Game of the Year Editions. Oh, videogame industry. No wonder gamers love Steam sales so much.
Warning: Minor plot/theme spoilers
BioShock Infinite - Burial at Sea: Episode 1 ends on an interesting note to say the least, and I'm curious to see what is in store for the next episode.
When it was announced, Burial a...
