Microsoft: XBL's friends cap will be raised, we promise photo

I'm afraid to even do a Google search to see how many times this site has mentioned the 100-friend cap for Xbox LIVE, and how many of those times involved someone of authority saying the restriction would be addressed.

Now I can't say how big of an issue this is for the majority of Xbox LIVE users, but for me, most of my fellow bloggers, and I imagine a good portion of you all have either hit the friends cap or gotten dangerously close.

Anyway, Microsoft's Steve Willet told Patrick Klepek over at G4 that no one has forgotten about past promises. "It is absolutely a continued focus and I am not [a] technical architect that you could tell you why it's capped there," he says, "but I will say it continues to come up, it is something that will not be forever, but I can't give you a real time horizon on when it's going to change."

Well that was informative and eerily specific. Case closed, guys! You can go home now.

New statistical data shows what your games are really worth photo

Out of all the "GOTY 2008" lists I've read, I couldn't find one that featured a "winning" game that I felt any attachment to, not even Dtoid's winner Left 4 Dead. It seems that gaming journalists are growing more and more out of touch with what makes a game not only worth playing, but also worth owning. I know a lot of the guys who write "PERFECT GAME! 10/10!" reviews for titles like GTA IV and Gears of War 2 are paid off to do so, but that doesn't change the fact that gaming reviews are growing ever less effective at helping gamers assess a game's level of objective quality.

Instead of trusting the opinions of out-of-touch, sponsored-by-the-developer game reviewers, maybe we can look to other measures to determine a game's worth? This report compiled by JJ Hendricks of Videogamepricecharts.com may be a good start, as it shows exactly which developers have the best track records for making games people want to keep, as well as a couple top ten lists charting which games have the best and worst resale values. Hit the link below for the report, and the jump for a few highlights from yours truly.

YTMND Thursday: The wildest ride of your life, edition photo

Easily my favorite this week is Luke goes for the ride of his life YTMND. Well, up until the very end that is. Also, you may notice a few really old YTMNDs for those of you who've been following YTMND Thursday since it first started two years ago. It's been a pain to find good YTMNDs as of late so hopefully you don't mind. Then again, everyone on the Internet has A.D.D. so it doesn't matter if I use some repeats.

Thanks to Qalamari as always. What were your favorites this week?

Random Man Now Dog: Hulk smash self! Box nightmare. Fichtner gets down.

YTMND Thursday: E3 edition photo

First off, big thanks to Qalamari for taking over last week's YTMND feature!

Plenty of facepalm worthy moments happened during E3 this year and I'm kind of disappointed that most of them haven't been made into YTMNDs yet. More specifically, the Guitar Hero IV presentation during Microsoft's keynote had some epic fail. But I have video of that which will go up on Weekend Destructainment at least.

Until then, check out this week's collection and tell us what your favorites were! Thanks to Qalamari and CannibleCalvin as always.

Random Man Now Dog: Van Damme's vacation. Evil Einstein vs Wolf Juice (made by Bleep).

[ In the absence of our resident shark who is traveling for the various gaming events going on next week we bring you a guest YTMND from our Community Blogs. Enjoy! -Niero ]

While I could never replace Hamza (squid are a poor substitute for sharks at best) I was a little disheartened to see no YTMND Thursday this week, so I decided to post a few I'd found. I hope this takes the edge off for those folks who are similarly jonesing. Some of these may have been featured before; if so, sorry- move on to the next one.

I even have a few Random Man Now Dogs for you. A Virtual Acid Trip, Don't fall asleep next to Indy, Worf didn't like Wanted, Wile E. Coyote keeps on Rockin'.

YTMND Thursday: Fanboys make for hilarity photo

This makes it two weeks in a row that my favorite YTMND is a dramatic reading. The Monster Hunter reading gets really good towards the end thanks to the sobbing. Fanboys are priceless. Well, except when they abuse the Community Blogs.

I don't know why, but the Hammer Bro one just killed me too. If you find any good YTMNDs, please send them my way! Thanks to Qalamari for the assist. What were your favorites this week?

Random Man Now Dog: The Goat Ninja. Bruce Campbell's Tomato Soup.

YTMND Thursday: Denis Dyack draws the line! photo

Easily my favorite this week is the dramatic reading of the Denis Dyack NeoGAF post. Granted, I always love dramatic readings, but this one is just so timely. I also love the Fox McCloud one, as it's just so damn adorable.

A good portion of this week's selection are pretty random. Hey, if you know of better YTMNDs, just send them in. Thanks to Qalamari for some of the links. What were your favorites this week?

Random Man Now Dog: Trust me. New talent at 60 Minutes.

YTMND Thursday: We now return you to your normally scheduled program photo

After taking a small break last week, YTMND Thursday is back. This week's selection is a little smaller than usual, but at least I'm not skipping a week again. The extra helping of Random Man Now Dogs should make up for the smaller selection of videogame-related YMTNDs.

My favorite this week is videogames in real life. It's so damn well done. Thanks to Qalamari for the assist. What are your favorites this week? If you find any good YTMNDs, send them in to tips!

Also, we've been toying with a contest related to YTMNDs. We want to see Destructoid-related YTMNDs, but the thing is, I can only think of two people that would actually rock the contest (CannibalCalvin and Bleep). If we were to do a Destructoid-themed YTMND contest, would you enter? I want to see the response before we roll with a contest like this, so leave a comment on what you think of the idea.

Random Man Now Dogs: Jessica Alba gets scarred. Jurassic Park, abridged. The future of our world.

YTMND Thursday: Quick, change the channel! photo

My favorite of this week's collection is the realistic NES games collection. A lot of work must have went into creating all of the Photoshops of what videogames would look like in real life. Also, Titfish is the greatest YTMND ever. What are your favorites this week?

YTMNDs have been really hard to come across as of late. If you come across any YTMNDs on your journey through the Internets, please pass them along to me

Random Man Now Dog: Titfish likes tits.

YTMND Friday: A day late edition photo

Sorry for the delay everyone. I've been really busy this past week, but hey, at least I didn't skip it completely! Anyway, some really good YTMNDs this week. My favorite is the critique of all the Sonic games. The Mario Kart ones are pretty good as well.

Thanks to Qalamari for some of these! What were your favorite YTMNDs this week?

[Side note: Wow, YTMND does not sound good at all when you combine it with any day other than Thursdays.]

Random Man Now Dog: Indian Jones is huge.

Another good week of YTMNDs. Thanks to Qalamari, YTMND Thursday will contain various Castlevania-related YTMNDs over the next couple of weeks. Not to mention all the ones that CannibalCalvin keeps on making.

My favorites this week include Red as a Scout and of course, Cosbyvania. I love anything that has to do with Cosby, if you haven't noticed by now. What were your favorites for this week?

Random Man Now Dog: Darth Vader has a meltdown.

Oh boy, a good collection this week. Winners don't do drugs could have only been created while on drugs, the Tetris rap is awesome, and the Destructoid themed ones are fantastic. It's pretty hard for me to pick a clear winner this week. Which ones are your favorite?

Big thanks as always goes out to CannibalCalvin. He's such a diva. And props to bleep for his gif skills.

Random Man Now Dog: Picard figures out the cat. Cat on a treadmill.

YTMND Thursday: Real Sonic is real photo

I don't know how or why the real Sonic fad picked up again, but I'm not complaining. Is it wrong that I want to spray paint a hedgehog blue and staple a extra tail on a fox and make them run through absurd obstacle courses and fight a giant fat man in a robotic suit at the end of each course? Probably.

Hard to pick my favorite of the punch this week. I guess I'll go with GTA Latarian just because of how timely it is. What were your favorites? Thanks to Professor Pew and CannibalCalvin as always.

Random Man Now Dog: Masters of Stuffing. Masters of Cuffing. Arnold is the real Master.

YTMND Thursday: The majestic flock of Kangs photo

Easily my favorite YTMND this week is the flock of Kangs. You just don't expect it at all and it's just perfect. Wow, I really hope this fad starts to take off. I haven't laughed this hard at a YTMND fad in a long time.

Lots of Mortal Kombat themed ones this week. I guess people really wanted to revisit the classic games. I also really liked the 8-bit Guitar Hero remix. The 8-bit version sounds better than the regular version.

Thanks to Dr. Milkdad and Pedro for a couple of these. What were your favorites from this week?

Random Man Now Dog: Ricky Ricardo's Babalualuealuealeuale.
