999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors gets Flash demo photo

Back in July, we highlighted a new Chunsoft adventure game called 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors. It's the story of nine strangers who must escape a boat in nine hours before bombs in their stomachs explode. This is straight-up Jigsaw Killer sh*t.

If you'd like to give the game a spin, the official site now has a demo available. You take the role of Junpei as he and a girl named Akane must escape a cruise cabin that's slowly filling with water. It's straightforward point-and-click, reminiscent of those "escape the room" Flash games that I can't get enough of. The demo doesn't last long, but I'm already sold.

999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors arrives November 16th for the DS. You ought to buy it.

Oh hey, Junpei.

I was a little iffy at first but Ace Attorney has gotten me into this kind of game. It's a pretty fascinating demo. I particularly like how the story is told by a narrator on the touch screen while all dialog takes place on the top. The puzzles seem well-designed, which is a major plus - I hate keeping a GameFAQs tab open for every point and click game I play.

Art style looks exactly like Phoenix Wright, but I love point and click games on the DS. They just work.

Red goes with red and blue goes with blue. Your welcome.

I know, I know, but there are only two triangles for each. I paired it up, got 7 4 for red, 6 3 for blue.

I try every possible combination of those numbers in both suitcases, 7474,7463, 7014, all that jazz.

BUT NOTHING
Honestly i think my demo like broke

There is a second memo with the remaining blue and red symbols. Check the beds.

Chainsawface, both the memos have half the code each for both of the briefcases. Just pay attention to which two numbers go where by looking at the arrow on the bottom. If your still having problems make sure your reading the arrows correctly, could be tricky at first because of the notes orientation.

Easy enough. The way they feed you an endless array of instructions every time you touch anything really pissed me off though. YES, I OPENED THE FIRST BRIEFCASE, I DON'T NEED TO BE RETOLD HOW TO OPEN THE SECOND ONE. The story wasn't very interesting to me, so I'll probably end up passing on this one.

Just finished the demo, I'm very excited for this game, I'm spoiled by Ace Attorney, trace memory, hotel dusk, and Ghost Trick, and now I'm excited for a darker spin on the DS click and find adventure.

That was awesome, It took some time, but that was great, I like challenge, seriously this game would be a most, specially because that akane girl make some kind of invitation during a danger situation, I wanna see what could happen with the big breasted, wich for obvious reasons I will focus on save.

I liked this, though I did spend a few minutes banging my head against the wall until I found the second memo, then it was cake. Then I felt like an idiot. I like games that humiliate me. All they need to do is to tone down the tutorials and I'll be sold.

Shame, I was really looking forward to trying this out.
But I input my actual age.
Apparently, 16 years old is too young to play the demo.
Now it won't let me play.

@ ZServ;

Exactly what I was thinking.

@ Seanileus;

Woah, what's up with the quad-post, man? O_o

Anyway, this could have the potential to be about as quality as the Ace Attorney series. Let's hope the script and puzzles are up to scratch.

Awesome, it's been a while since we had a great visual novel. Definitely looking forward to this.

I noticed that they already have a translation error. In the digital roots notes: "1+2+3+4 = 1". Perhaps those translators didn't take Math in highschool?

Also, dude, didn't your mother ever tell you not to tell your age to internet strangers? That's like the first rule of the internet. That, and don't give out her credit card number, you naughty brat. :p

^ Lol. No, there is nothing wrong with the translation of the digital root notes. Apparently, you haven't been reading it. Basically, you're suppose to add the digits of the sums together until you get a single digit.

For the above example, the digital root of the equation is:
1 + 2 + 3 + 4 = 10 = 1 + 0 = 1
