Hm no.
Until gamers stop acting like sheep and buying poorly made products simply based on brand names, shoddy games like this will continue to be made. (And no, I'm not a 360 fanboy. I got the PC version and that was even worse than the PS3 version :P)
how are you gonna know if it has bugs without playing or buying it?
some people like to get games when they are released, and the game they buy should work when they put them in the system. like they used to in past gen games. yes there were bugs but not nearly as many as there are now..
why should we have to wait 3-5 weeks to see if anyone who actually bought the game to say whether or not it has bugs in it on some random forum. most reviewers occasionally comment on the bugs, if they see them. some may not.
youre not gonna find bugs by not buying/renting the games. these developers should know better. the consumers shouldnt be their QA testers.
What's the problem this time?
They patched something but it dind't fix everything. The petition page keeps getting updated with things that get patched, although it doesn't seem like a very long list of fixes so far.
@SuperCouch:
Most of the issues are with multiplayer. But when the first outcries started some weeks ago, I went to look on some of the popular CoD forums to see if it was a consistent issue for everyone. A lot of people seemed to have no problem at all and a lot of people did have issues. Hard to tell how much is up to the player's subjective view either way though.
Are you fucking kidding me ps3fags?
You realize Multi-player was UNfuckingPLAYABLE on PC at launch? That the game crashed often and for some people, didn't work at all? Where's their refund? Fucking consolefags bitching because hurrr durr ecksbawks looks better when penis3 can outperform it. That's what happens with every multi-platform game. You know why? Cause they make the 360 version first because it's easier to make.
Know why it's buggy? because it takes longer to patch ps3 for the simple fact that most american developers have trouble with the ps3.
And less features? This is news to me. What's missing?
My point, in a less channish tone is that when it comes to the point when your counting pixels to check the graphics you need a hobby that involves going outside. Every game has bugs. And there's always going to be some degree of exclusivity in this type of gaming market.
I'm all for accountability, but this late after release?
I mean, if they had petitioned as soon as it came out, it would be an entirely different story.
Refund get?
Why should he be? The next cod will still make millions.
"Do you think this online petition will change anything now that it's quickly reaching 10,000 signatures?"
It can reach 500,000 and will still mean jackshit. Fucking spineless gaming nerds.
I'm just waiting to see if the pc pack will come for free like it did for World at War, but I'm pretty sure it won't...
I'm talking more about the overall picture. I don't play Black Ops, and I don't know much about the claims, but if one version IS inherently flawed, and the developers knew that before release, then something is wrong with the system. The "we'll patch it later" mentality is messed up, partially because they aren't obligated to patch it later, and there have been instances where patch promises have fallen through.
I'll also say that if many of the problems are with multi-player, then it makes sense that people aren't aware of the flaws until after a good amount of time has passed.
I felt burned on mw2 and I'm glad I skipped this one. COD formula is getting pretty tired.
The game is broken, no matter what you got it on. We all got fucked.
Thank you for your time,
Squirrelygod
They did update the PC version of the game to fix the stuttering problems, and it works very well for me now. I'm sure they're working on something.
Activision's goal of having a COD game every year has fell short again with a buggy game which they knew but they weren't willing to push the deadline.
If there is then these idiots have no excuse, they simply bought the wrong version of the game (that's not entirely accurate, they simply bought the wrong game. The game is the software interacting with the hardware.) Hell, even if all the versions are the same they shouldn't have bought the game in the first place.
Why should anyone pay full price for a game that the developers clearly did not put 100% into making?
They shouldn't, so they shouldn't have done so. But they did, Oh well. So it continues.
The problem probably lies at the feet of game reviewers/journalists. Perhaps if 95% of them were not slobbering fuckwads everything would be fine.
Beyond that, I haven't had too much trouble with the game.
....and you don't see any of those things in this story? Or yourself?
Eat a christmas dick.
If they will not, just go to your local Country Court, fill out the simple form, put the reason for the dispute as "Misrepresented Goods" and no more detail.
You pay a small fee, the retailer then gets the court papers and has to appear in defence otherwise they are ordered to pay plus the costs.
It is HIGHLY unlikely that anyone would turn up to defend the action, and there is enough evidence already published to convince the registrar that your case is legitimate.
It is NOT the responsibility of the software publisher; the law says the retailer is responsible.
Simple.
Did Treyarch promise a better experience on the PS3 than on the Xbox? I didn't see any ads promising that. Did they promise to provide a lag free game? Again, I didn't see any ads saying that.
I read their petition - they're just screaming about how they don't like the fact that there were some things on the Xbox version that weren't on the PS3 version. But Activision and Treyarch said that they weren't going to provide those features. They said so. So.... they should have been aware of that! They don't have a legal duty to make the game to standards you wish! They make the game according to the standards THEY wish, and then YOU decide whether or not to BUY it.
If you were disappointed with Black Ops (and that's a completely fair view to take), then... don't buy another COD game!
Games are a LUXURY. Not a right. They are a fun, entertaining DIVERSION. They aren't your life, and if they are your life, seriously, that's..... really sad. I love playing video games, but if I'm disappointed with a game, I just don't buy from that publisher again. I don't throw a hissy fit and demand that a publisher answer to my every whim.
This petition has no legal weight to it. It's simply people throwing a tantrum. Maybe it's justified, maybe the PS3 version did get shafted, maybe they shouldn't buy any more COD games. But to threaten legal action and act as if their rights were trampled? These kids obviously know nothing about real suffering or real rights being oppressed. By all means, stand up for your right for free speech, freedom from discrimination, freedom of the press and of elections. But to STAND UP FOR THE SACRED CAUSE OF..... video games? Get over yourselves.
What a bunch of children. Grow up.
Until you actually step up and follow through with something Activision is just going to walk all over you and your going to thank them for it like good little tools.
£100 for a game both of us can`t play is annoying we have several ps3 between us to play it on ranging from the 60gb fat to the 320gb slim and it doesnt work on any of them properly, im not really bothered by the graphics i can get by with that, the lag is very annoying - you are dead before you have seen your opposition, then when you see them they disappear again because they are lagging and moving across the screen like some superhero.
But the most annoying is, if you have got fast internet access you tend to be the host and when you are the host the game always freezes, which requires a hard reset to the ps3, which preety much results in 1 playable game every 2hrs.
Im not really bothered about a refund i just want them to fix it, but what would be nice is when they do fix the issues the extra maps available in Feb/March should be free to the ps3 users for all the problems they have suffered with.
