50 Cent to make Saints Row movie? photo

Classical musician, avant-garde filmmaker, playwright and philanthropist Fifty "50" Cent may very well be embarking upon his most daring project yet -- a movie version of THQ's philosophical videogame odyssey, Saints Row.

While talking about his upcoming interactive adventure, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, the velvet lover boasted that his relationship with THQ meant he has a good chance of making the film, a chance he's willing to take.

"With my relationship with THQ, they'll actually see me develop Saints Row into an actual screenplay and into a film project," he explained. "I'm optioning the rights for that right now, so they'll see that before they see me do it from my own perspective for my game."

Considering Saints Row has always been about the ludicrous glorification of "gangsta" chicanery, I can see Mr. Cent actually doing a decent job of it. All the film needs is guns, swearing and hip hop music. I heard Fifty knows where to find that sh*t.

I wouldn't pay a dime, much less five of them for the likes of 50 Cent.

I am addicted to "Saints Row 2". As an IP, it just lost some of its shine with this announcement.

As a game, SR2 is great! :)

As a movie?? No, never, especially with fiddy at the helm, his last film was a cheapo, terrible version of 8 mile, and he simply cant act, at all.

The movie will be terible, and 'too bad to be good'

You guys clearly have standards for movies you would watch...

I on the other hand have no standards whatsoever. So I will be first in line wearing as much purple as I fucking can!

FUCK THE ROLLERZ!!

That's a tough one to pull off. The ridiculousness of the characters rally made the cutscenes in SR2. Castign woud have to be impeccable, and the writing would have to walk that line between taking itself seriously (That one Carlos Mission) and having fun with itself (Most anything featuring Pierce).

It won't carry an entire movie, but a long running Pierce-gets-no-respect gag has legs, I think.

@Detox:

All of Uwe Boll's movies had real actors - oh, sorry - REAL ACTORS and REAL SCRIPTS, and we know what became of those movies. When it's more painful to watch a movie -- say, Bloodrayne -- than it is to play the game that it's based on, that nullifies your trolling about "real" scripts and "real" actors.

More exhibits -- Doom and Max Payne.

So, fuck you, too.

Detox: Was the storyline about homosexuals? I missed that.

I guess they'll be going for the cockney arsehole for the lead character.

Detox, you take this game too seriously. Yes the premise and storyline is pathetic but it's all a big joke.

The strange and brilliant thing about Saints Row is that it caters to the morons that like glorified gangsta crap but at the same time mocks them, catering to those who know it's all bullshit.

But yeah a movie with 50 Cent is a dumb idea as it will most likely be aimed at the former part of the demographic.
