4 Castlevania figures due this October photo

Confession: I have at least two proper-sized boxes of McFarlane* dolls action figures somewhere in my closet. I was a huge fan of his Spidey and Spawn work and when I saw the toys I nearly shit myself. I was excited about those toys back then and wondered if they would ever do anything for the gaming industry. They never did, but luckily someone else with the same kind of high standards has stepped up to the plate.

I'm having the exact same reaction to these new figurine protypes of Simon Belmont created by a company called NECA (hit up their MySpace) in a stance that almost captures his famous stance in the opening sequence of Super Castlevania (however less chicken-legged and more steroidal) on the SNES.

Three additional toys are also scheduled for release this October: Alucard, Dracula, and Succubus(?!!). Hopefully he won't look like He-Man when the color guy is done, if any.

*Trivia: Todd McFarlane, your humble editor, and the Destructoid web site were all born on March 16. Unfortunately he has nothing to do with us, but I'm working on it.

Bonus trivia: Todd McFarlane lives in a small suburb of Phoenix, Arizona, called Ahwatukee (so small it doesn't get to call itself its own city), which happens to be this humble reader's hometown.

The only doll / action figure I own is a mcfarlane. it's Locke from Lost so I figure it's badass enough I can retain a semblance of manhood. Of course, wearing a leopard-print thong doesn't exactly help that, but anything I can get. also, where's the pageboy haircut?

I used to collect the spawn figures! I would go to KB Toys everyday afterschool and check if they had any of the new ones.
All my lunch money during those days when to spawn toys. hahaha

The Succubus is likely there for simple fan service, since she's topless in the games (even as a sixteen pixel high sprite you can see nipple!).

I would have preferred to see Death get his own figure though. After having just beaten him in Portrait, that guy is a legendary boss. I don't think I ever defeated him in the original CV either...

This is why Americans should be in charge of character designs more often. This guy is badass compared to Simon's look in the other games.
