Funny that.
The free GBA and NES games is nothing short of amazing, and with great games on the horizon to match the games that have already been released for the system, I don't see what the giant problem with the system was in the first place.
The first year of ANY console is a shitty experience for early adopters. Remember the 360 or PS3 or DS first year? YIKES. They were ALL (relative to what they became later) garbage for the first year.
I bought the system not really caring at all about the nintendo side of games. Plus with the PSV announcement, I knew a price drop was going to hit soon.
I get 20 free games and I kept to play my RE Mercs on day 1 so I'm happy.
But yes this systems launch has been pretty bad.
Another thing that this price drop interests me in are the effects it will have on the PSvita launch. With Sony's system getting a price tag similar to the 3DS at launch will it suffer the same fate or worse? I honestly don't see it doing any better with the mass market especially if parents see a similar device priced lower.
If all Nintendo is worried about is its fan's trust though they should not worry at all. The fan boys will still cling to anything Nintendo and if anything they prob lost more with the whole Wii Casual games thing.
THERE'S A LINK IN THE ARTICLE. FIRST LINK IN THE ARTICLE. TROLL HARDER, SON.
@Duke Jim Archibald of Sterlingia
WHY THE FUCK DO YOU WORD YOUR ARTICLES LIEK THAT?! SUCH A JIM STERLING ARTICAL, GAWD. STOP BEING FAT AND DELIVER TEH JURNALZIMS!
/caps lock.
.
Not much the early adopters have to complain now, you took the risk and it didn't work, that's just how it is, they could either sell a lot and we wait a few years for a price drop, or this could happen. Luckily for me I can now get a 3DS without feeling guilt.
Still, no reason for the sure to come gloom and doom scenarios people like to paint for Nintendo. I have a feeling most video games fans have really short memory.
How so? A system's future success doesn't stop it being a shit experience right now.
Try harder, kid.
I've been playing a ton of DS games (buy Ghost Trick, you assholes) and Ghost Recon/Ocarina of Time for the 3DS.
And now I have 20 free games and hopefully more people will buy the 3DS so we can see more games being developed for the system.
My perspective.
Second thought: How is that $250.00 PSVita looking to everyone now, huh?
IZ NOT DONE RAIGIN! NINTENDOH MAEKZ MALLEO AND WEEGEE! STOP TEH RAIGIN AND BE A JURNALZINT LIEK IGN AND G4, GAWD. ERRRY KONSOULZ HAVE BAD LAUNCH WINDOWS, REGARDLESS OF NINTY RELEASING THEIR MASTURPEECE 2 MONTHS PRIOR AN--you know what? This gag is stupid.
jim, you're fat.
/CAPS Lock?
Also, 3DS LOL.
Cause you can't build consumer confidence if you don't have anything.
Then the Gamecube, N64 and Wii were where they really regressed all the way back to toy makers.
They hit some commercial luck with the DS and the Wii, but man, Nintendo just aren't the big player in the GAMING world that they think they are.
Sure, they're a pretty big player in the TOY world and have even blurred the lines between TOYS and VIDEOGAMES.
But you can't ride the fluke success of 2 consoles your entire existance.
It's a shame, but nintendo are losing the little luck they've been riding this whole generation. In a way, it's sad to see, but in other ways, it's pretty fucking LULZY.
Heck that is probably why they lost a decent part of what they would have had in launch sales. Because everyone and their dog knows there is a 3DSlight, a 3DSi and a 3DSXL just around the corner. Well that and a lack of compelling games, that'll getcha every time.
On topic being someone who purchased a 3ds at launch it does sting. And the 20 games don't help when I own or have no interest in the games.
You can argue that we should have expected a price drop and most did, but not at this price or within this early of its release. All in all I'm happy with my system but it still feels like a slap in the face.
Guess Nintendo is scared that the 3DS hasn't taken off with the PSV biting at its heels now.
LOL
Its so funny that these "writers" pretend they are non partisan but they hate worse than the worst fanboys
I love my 3DS. I'm glad I bought it, and I use it every day.
PHBBBBBT!
This is a business decision and has nothing to do with the vita
the ds also got an early price drop
And the 3ds has taken off mor ethan the ds did.
The PSVita can be the only reason for the price drop which strikes me as odd. It's like Nintendo knows it messed up and is now backtracking, just like when Reggie told Geoff Keighley that the WiiU exists because they were backtracking on the whole 'core gamer' thing.
Bad times, Nintendo. Bad times.
If the markup was so fucking high to begin with, why does my battery suck so much?
He's written very similar articles about top Sony and Microsoft execs making stupid statements, I don't know where you're making the leap to partisanship from.
The 3ds has been number 1 many times in japan, the ds wasnt
Things are looking pretty good
"3DS was designed as a huge practical joke, intended to troll the entire industry. "
Yeah this is just about the execs.
Hes trolling.
