It made me chuckle this morning when I saw the new advert, which claims a 'state-of-the-art online service'. LOL.
I will said this. I don't think that Nintendo would had dropping the price, if the console would have launching with Kid Icarus and Ocarina of Time at launch.

The free GBA and NES games is nothing short of amazing, and with great games on the horizon to match the games that have already been released for the system, I don't see what the giant problem with the system was in the first place.

I bought the system not really caring at all about the nintendo side of games. Plus with the PSV announcement, I knew a price drop was going to hit soon.
I get 20 free games and I kept to play my RE Mercs on day 1 so I'm happy.
But yes this systems launch has been pretty bad.

I am very disappointed in my 3DS as well. The only games I have for it are fighting games and the Ocarina of Time remake. I do think this price drop is a good thing though. If this price drop translates into sales then hopefully developers will find the platform more enticing to develop for and we will actually get some games worth a damn.
Another thing that this price drop interests me in are the effects it will have on the PSvita launch. With Sony's system getting a price tag similar to the 3DS at launch will it suffer the same fate or worse? I honestly don't see it doing any better with the mass market especially if parents see a similar device priced lower.

On another positive note, think of how cheap the console will be used in a few months, or even weeks! At least the early adopters are getting something, but lets pray and hope this doesn't turn out to be another Virtual Boy.

As an early adopter of the 3DS and someone who never owned a DS: This is good news.
I've been playing a ton of DS games (buy Ghost Trick, you assholes) and Ghost Recon/Ocarina of Time for the 3DS.
And now I have 20 free games and hopefully more people will buy the 3DS so we can see more games being developed for the system.

However, this news is worthy of two people posting it mainly because it shows how much Nintendo has royally fucked over their early adopters. To this I have to say: Ocarina of Time was not worth $300.00. Fuck you Nintendo, and a huge Nelson "HA-HA" to absolutely everyone in the world who thought the Nintendo 3DS was worth it at launch (suckers).

After another re-read of the article, reading comprehension dawned on me, and I realized that this post was not about the price cut but rather the response from Nintendo on the price cut. Egg on my face, mate. Sorry about that, Jim. I guess my inner-troll got the best of me.

Nintendo made the jump from toy maker to video games platform holder pretty well at first, the NES, SNES were real competitors.
Then the Gamecube, N64 and Wii were where they really regressed all the way back to toy makers.
They hit some commercial luck with the DS and the Wii, but man, Nintendo just aren't the big player in the GAMING world that they think they are.
Sure, they're a pretty big player in the TOY world and have even blurred the lines between TOYS and VIDEOGAMES.
But you can't ride the fluke success of 2 consoles your entire existance.
It's a shame, but nintendo are losing the little luck they've been riding this whole generation. In a way, it's sad to see, but in other ways, it's pretty fucking LULZY.

Heck that is probably why they lost a decent part of what they would have had in launch sales. Because everyone and their dog knows there is a 3DSlight, a 3DSi and a 3DSXL just around the corner. Well that and a lack of compelling games, that'll getcha every time.

Also, as someone who bought TWO 3DS' at launch (one still new/unopened) I am disappoint with the news of such an early price drop. However the free games are still kewl.
The PSVita can be the only reason for the price drop which strikes me as odd. It's like Nintendo knows it messed up and is now backtracking, just like when Reggie told Geoff Keighley that the WiiU exists because they were backtracking on the whole 'core gamer' thing.

Lucky me only paying £168 ($274, but that's because technology fucking hates Europeans), with the free games (say about £4 varying between slightly more and less for GBA and NES) my 3DS I guess cost the equivalent of £88 if I was going to buy the games. Or something. I don't know. Also lucky me having never played a fair few of them!
