Through the magic of Augmented Reality you can make your 3DS Mii walk around your IRL environment. The pre-installed feature (I wouldn't call it a game) lets you move your Mii around, pose it and then take a 3D picture of it. This is fun for about two minutes total. Add in the Nintendo character cards, which have the same functionality, and my figures come out to about 12 total minutes of fun with the included software and cards.

Nah, I'm being too hard on it. This AR Mii stuff is pretty neat, and it's definitely good for showing off what your shiny new 3DS can do. Now let's see if I can get in on this naughty Peach positioning thing that everyone's into.

Dale, you're kind of an asshole aren't you? You're kind of sucking the fun out of these previews. And yes the automatic Mii maker was working 100%

I will enjoy this built-in feature as much as I enjoy the built-in features on my DS, like the clock.

Dale's just telling the truth. How many people can anyone say they've had hours on hours on end fun with pictochat, or how deep and intricate the pallete swap system on the Gameboy?

It's just very small tech demo software that you'll forget you even have in a month.

How is he an asshole? The 3DS doesn't have feelings. D:< Thanks for all the previews Dale, although they just make me want to get a 3DS on launch day even more...which I better pre order soon, before the commercials start circulating...

By the way, not to sound racist, but if you didn't have a picture of yourself up there next to your name, Id've never thought you were asian. :O

I'll spend about 10 minutes playing each of the AR games and probably never touch them again. But, I know that each of those 10 minutes will be hilarious.

Why I dont connect with the vast majority of gamers...they swoon over http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gimmick

And the fact you give your money for gimmicks is the reason we have them in the first place.

Actually, I used the pictochat feature extensively when I was studying abroad two years ago. We pictochatted our way through entire college courses while the professor believed we were using the kanji dictionary. Some of my funniest memories are thanks to that little program.

Still, this is clearly more of a tech demo so that you can wow people immediately after purchasing.

That's great that it separates between the surface and objects.

This might actually be really cool if they put this into real games. It might be hard to pull off, but it could work.

On the card itself, I'm guessing the card needs to be in the view of the camera and you can't move it for it to work?

That's about what I expected. I wasn't planning on playing the included software for 60+ hours. Good thing they make these things called "video games" for the 3DS.

Feature of year! I'm gonna buy a 3DS for sure now!

Your brand of humor is fine Dale, don't worry.

@ Elliot - Depends on how it updates. Maybe one day you'll be able to draw a racetrack on a big sheet of paper and run the Mii around it, complete with hurdles. More simply, they'll probably just issue more cards. So there's the box that has to be there, then maybe you get a card with Pokemon *Insert Color Here*, and a pokemon fry your Mii with lightning or whatever.

@TheStripe That sounds... EPIC... just... EPIC... Imagine the possibilities!? Draw a path. Set the race start. Race. Or maybe, draw a picture. Set the joints. Move it around the page, or even better, around your table! I really see the possibilities o.o!

I am a Nintendo fan for sure. I don't know, you just seem very unimpressed with the 3DS while I'm thinking everything looks very cool and I want to get my hands on one asap. Maybe I'm easily impressed.

I love augmented reality.

I'm still sorta waiting for augmented reality glasses that aren't cumbersome and don't cost an arm and a leg. I guess if they came out with a stand for the 3DS you could be looking at a possible resurrection of "The Eye of Judgment".

Or in far more likelihood the next generation of Pokemon games having an augmented reality tie in.

I hate to say it, but if this video was shown from a different perspective, you would have looked quite similar to one of those people from the so called douchy 3ds commercial.
