This is just a handy PSA that won't really be of any use to anyone because we'll all have forgotten about it by then, but Nintendo has stated that the 3DS will be dated and priced on September 29. This is what the company told Bloomberg Japan, in any case.
It was previously promised by Reggie "The Meatman Cometh" Fils-Aime that the 3DS would be out worldwide by March 2011, and most predictions for the price have put it at around $250. Of course, none of that's official, and it seems that we won't know anything concrete until after the Summer.
I want to kiss the 3DS on its little 3D balls, so Nintendo could certainly be quicker about giving us a launch date if it wants to. Go on Nintendo, I give you full permission to give us the release details today!

Personally I can't and for those times, the PSP does me just fine and dandy.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to cart my PS3 and TV into work when i'm alone in the office, but it's just not quite as practical as dropping the PSP in my pocket.
Perhaps you're just not a part of the handheld market?
Personally I love my PSP, but if I am impressed by enough 3rd party - non-cartoon, non-Mario/Zelda/other 1st party games, i'll get a 3DS, but so far the lineup doesn't inspire ME personally, apart from Resident Evil and the possible MGS3 remake thingy.
But each to their own and all that.
But the DS has things that can't be done in consoles, like Trauma Center, Big Bang Mini or Knights in the Nightmare - the stylus precision is too good for the big guys to achieve. Also, playing on the go totally rocks.
