I actually think that's a pretty brilliant idea. If you liked it enough to play it more than 30 times, you'd probably be willing to cough up the cash to buy the real thing. If you quit before you finished the first playthrough, then you already made up your mind about it.
Also, 3D + survival horror = stuff jumping out at you, quite literally! >_<
Sidenote: you can keep playing over and over and as long as you don't quit, it only counts as one use. Played 3 in a row and was still at 29. Also 30 uses for a game hitting in 2 weeks is nothing to get mad about.
While I agree that I've yet to have a demo I've opened even *close* to 30 times before deleting it, simply having the restriction there in the first place is rather odd. I don't care much, but it's odd.
Actually I bought Geometry Wars and was disappointed that their wasn't much content in the full game that wasn't available in the demo.
That being said I think their past only downloadable for a few weeks Demos like they did for WiiWare was stupid, and I'm happy they brought all those demos back recently. I really hope the 3DS doesn't do that crap where you have to download these demos within the first weeks of release or your out of luck.
/sarcasm.
The 30 uses thing is extremely archaic and Nintendo. But this is Nintendo. Honestly, I'm surprised they even have DEMOS. Then again, I don't expect much from them these days.
Hopefully Leon's half of RE6 plays similar to this..
Anyway, I'm liking RE. Going to get it for sure someday.
Is it even a just waste of effort to complain about it? I'm just going to reilliterate what everyone has already said. Who plays a demo 30 times? The game comes out in two weeks! Maybe, just maybe, there is a reason for Nintendo making a limit? Oh no, of course not. Everything Nintendo does is a mistake, or else it's a surprise?!
This kind of attitude toward any developer makes me sick. I'm sure that when they had AN ACTUAL MEETING TO DISCUSS THE CHOICE, they knew wheat they were doing instead of "Duhur, our systems are traditional, we don't need demos."
Have some faith in people. I know that they are total idiots when it comes to everything. (sarcasm) Seriously! If they are total idiots, they're total idiots who make games that would be impossible to be made by total idiots.
...
Woah. Look at that rant. Wonder where all that fanboy rage came from?
It's late, I'm tired, I didn't mean to offend, so don't take offense. I'm just blowing off steam on teh internetz.
Thanks, I'm glad to hear I apparently have equal intelligence to a grown adult at my age.
Also,if people are bitching about the 30 play limit for this demo they will probably have a stroke when they hear about Ace Combat's demo...
Or maybe they want you to stop playing the demo and eventually buy the game. Who the fuck cares if there's a 30 play limit? What kind of person even plays a demo 30 times before playing the full version?
Seriously, I'd expect an ignorant statement like that from Jimbo.
A demo is not a free gift. It's not something you are entitled to as a member of the human race. It is like a free sample from the lady with the plate full of little pieces of chicken standing in front of the Chinese food restaurant at the food court.
She is not giving you the chicken to feed you, or because she likes you, or she thinks you deserve free chicken. She is giving it to you in hopes that you will like the way it tastes, and will go on to buy one of the lunch specials.
If after 30 pieces of free chicken you still don't know if you want the special, she has every reason to cut you and your chicken filled face right off.
Dude you are awesome. I couldn't have put it any better. Once again I will state you are the main reason to visit this sight. Without you its a bunch of fucking morons parading around like they have a clue. I guess max and tara are ok
On topic: This demo was awesome. And people say the 3DS is underpowered and a slight upgrade from the DS. Ha I laugh in your general direction. Vita looks great, but I think games like this and Mario in 3D are more visually impressive than HD games on the go. Obviously that's just my opinion but before the 3DS I didn't know I was 3D enthusiast. I still haven't seen a 3D movie but for games I think its the real deal.
Also, its takes up about 1100 of my 9000 remaining blocks. All the better to force it obsolence and push me to just delete the dang thing when its used up.
I love free stuff as much as the next guy, but kids gotta eat, right?

My only real problem with this demo (and I suppose, the full game most likely) is the limited control scheme options. I remember on the PSX and for most of the last console generation, control options were free and we could map anything to any button we wanted. Why is it this generation has seen fit to limit us to Type A/B/C (and D if we're lucky) controls? Sensitivity used to come as a slider, now it's all 'normal', 'fast'. I don't know when or why developers started thinking that taking away options was a good thing, but it's not. I want to like this demo, I really do, but having to use the circle pad for movement is killing it for me. A game with spacing and combat so tight needs precise, digital movement control (not to mention how uncomfortable it is to use the circle pad and the L and R buttons). No d-pad movement, no sale.
But honestly? Got more scared in 10 minutes then I did of three years playing Resi 5. Get this game. If you have a slight inkling towards RE, horror games, action games, or just good games, get it.
And I love the gyro controls for aiming. I can see why some people won't because you have to physically move around and it's a bit hard to play with both gyro controls and 3D on. But I found them very immersive, and it made aiming much faster and easier.
Love the analogy. I played this once last night, and I'm sold. I'll probably hammer the demo till it's out and I cam afford it, though.
I didnt make it very far in my first attempt, got massacred by the dude in the header picture...ran out of bullets and stabbed the fucker like 20 times to no avail. The controls are done well, i just have to get used to conserving bullets.
Definitely a good buy but my monies have to go elsewhere.
