The fact that Nintendo apparently hates on-line does not make the other developers, like Capcom, not wanting to do it. Maybe this headset can be useful with Monster Hunter, but adding this big monster with the nub-pad will kill the portability of the system entirely.
Hope MH3G gets voice-chat... else I'm skipping this.
Right now I can only think of Pokemon.
So, yeah, it's a bit of a pointless thing now, but would you rather it didn't exist? It's a 3rd party product; who cares?
OH WAIT. KID ICARUS. MARIO KART. MONSTER HUNTER 4. POKEMON.
There is a REASON for this, just not right now...
People RAGED for one, and now Nintendo have MADE one. Be happy, it means good things for the Wii U.
At least that seems to be the pitch from the maker.
Gotta keep that hope alive!
In fact, I am willing to bet that MH3 for the 3DS will support voice chat, and that is why this is coming out now, despite the current lack of software support.
Also, I think BlazeBlue Continnuum Shift II lacking online is a greater travesty than Star Fox 64 not having it. One is a contemporary fighting game and the other is a 13 year old arena flight shooter with invisible walls that would piss off most gamers today.
That was different.
1) Broadband wasn't very common yet. Most people had dial-up.
2) Dev kits for the GameCube didn’t have native support for the broadband adapter, but it did for the modem adapter, nether of which came with the system.
#1 wasn’t Nintendo’s fault, #2 was.
The PS2 didn’t have much in the way of outstanding online support ether; it was all run by each developer, many games lost support while the system generation was still on and the only one I remember with voice chat was the SOCOM series.
The only real good online service was Xbox Live; Microsoft can definitively gloat about that.
In the case of the 3DS, voice chat is natively supported, and the system has a mic and speakers built-in. And Nintendo seems to be giving the feature proper support, albeit later.
So, 3DS voice chat has better odds than the GameCube’s online play.
Feel a bit quick to insult?
That's natural, get a room.
I just can't get my hopes up for N anymore, since they're perpetually behind every tech curve in gaming.
Yeah, I can't really argue against that. I admit, I have not been buying Nintendo products for being on the edge of technology for a while now.
But I still like most of their games, so I still pony up.
I'm assuming there will be a couple games (looking at you, MH) that use it, but as far as I know, there is not a single one out at the moment that has voice chat.
Basically, why?
I don't get it people slam Nintendo for not having a strong focus on Online, then when they release a headset (which Sony and Microsoft have too) you complain that it's useless. If they didn't release a headset people would complain about that too, the DS had a headset also. As for Nintendo online games there's Mario Kart 7, and Kid Icarus. Starfox 64 never had online, and neither did four swords which was free.
And yes, the 3DS supports voice chat, for the uninformed.
There's no mic port of any kind.
I guess the headphone port is designed to work as both.
Though if they are smart they'll include an adapter for PC use.
I don't see this ever being used on the 3DS ever.
Looks uncomfertable anyway.
I'll stick to my Turtle Beach head set thank you very much.
