3DS ambassador GBA games dated for December 16 photo

Nintendo has finally dated the ten GBA games that so-called 3DS ambassadors will receive, and it's this Friday! On December 16, those who bought a 3DS before its big price drop will get ten free Game Boy Advance games, which is nice.

Here's the full list of games for the Japanese ambassadors. We can expect them to mostly be the same:

  • F-Zero
  • Super Mario Advance 3
  • The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
  • Fire Emblem Seima no Kouseki
  • Kirby & the Amazing Mirror
  • Mario Kart Advance
  • Mario vs. Donkey Kong
  • Metroid Fusion
  • Wario Land Advance
  • Made in Wario

I should point out that, so far, the Friday date has only been acknowledged by Nintendo Japan and Nintendo Europe. Again, one would assume that North America is to follow suite, but if there's any difference, we shall of course let you know. Either way, I'm impressed by the fact that Nintendo didn't just give out garbage for free. Those are some decent games!

No.. Fucking.. Way.. Minish Cap?

You mean I'll finally get to play the only Zelda I've never played? For Free? Fuck Yeah!

Super happy about Fire Emblem being on here too, can't tell you how much I love that series too.

god, all these games are incredibly solid.. I've been waiting impatiently as it is for these.. Now idk if I can contain myself

(side note.. I got a new keyboard and I'm not used to it yet.. So if my typing over the next week or two is worse then usual, that'd be why.)

Wow -- that's a really high-quality list. Much better than the NES games used for the first half of the Ambassador Program.

I'm actually kind of jealous of the ambassador library. The GB and GBA titles given out are all pretty groovy.

Sounds awesome. Between Metroid Fusion, Minish Cap, and Fire Emblem that's a ton of hours of play. Better yet, those are all games I somehow managed to miss on my GBA (I think all I ever bought for it was the Castlevania games and Golden Sun).

I am definitely happy that I bought my 3DS at launch.

The Ambassador program may have been a little silly in name and execution, but the free games I'm getting (many I haven't even played!) are totally worth it, whatever "it" is.

Wowzers! That's not "decent", that's "AMAZING!!!"!'!!!!

I'm assuming Made in Wario is WarioWare

The question is whether or not all of that will fit on the SD card along with the NES games and other stuff I've downloaded.

Great selection! I would have preferred Zero Mission and Link to the Past instead of Fusion and Minish Cap myself, but I'll still gladly take these titles for free!

Also, for those asking, 'Made in Wario' is apparently the Japanese title for the 'WarioWare' games.

Considering how weak about half the NES list was, I am pleasantly surprised by the strength of the titles on this list.

Out of all the games they could have picked, Nintendo just HAD to go and pick these.

Darnit Nintendo, stop making me love you so much... :']

If this is true for America, this would be perfect timing for me personally. I'll be done with finals and saturday morning my family and I leave for a 14 hour long trip. It's always nice to have more options of games to play, especially if you don't have to switch cartridges out.

PEOPLE - PLAY MINISH CAP FIRST, PLEASE.

It came out at the end of the GBA's lifecycle, when the DS was already basically out and kicking - pretty much everyone I knew missed it, and that's a shame. Please play and spread the good news of Minish Cap!

Another excuse to replay Yoshi's Island.

I'll be honest, I was kinda hoping Advance Wars would make it, but that's a pretty nice list either way.

@wickedsick: Don't worry, the actual ROM files for GBA games were between 8 and 16 MB. NES games are next to nothing. You should have plenty of room on the stock 2 GB card. And if you do run low in the future, SD cards are hella cheap. Upgrading to an 8 GB would be pretty painless.

Didn't they say that the GBA ambassador games would be exclusive to the ambassador program? or was that the GBC games?

Because I really don't see any of those staying exclusives for any length of time :P Unless they meant exclusive in the pre-order sense of the word that you get 1 month before everyone else gets a shot at it lol.

@Omni
Do you have any information on how hard it would be to import SD data/games from my stock 2GB to a new one? I haven't bothered looking it up, but I probably want to upgrade at some point. Also, I'm reaching the end of my "block" limit in terms of allowable games on the UI - does that stretch?

Thanks in advance!

I definitely needed to get in on the Ambassador programme when I heard about these games and that they would not be made available for purchase. Fusion may have been way too linear for a Metroid game, but it was still fantastic, one of the best the GBA had to offer. Minish Cap was fantastic. Can't wait to get my hands on them and the rest.

Personally, Minish Cap is my second fav zelda title next to Link's Awakening. It's a mighty fine story, and its kind enough to fill in gaps in the "overall" zelda story line.

What Scuffles said! Can Destructoid find out if these GBA games are remaining exclusive to Ambassadors? I remember Nintendo saying the GBA games would be exclusive to Ambassadors and that they had no plans to release them to the public in the initial press release.

They're giving some great GBA games to the Ambassadors, but screwing themselves by not putting them up for purchase to the general public. They could make some money off these games in the shop because these are games that people actually want.

Minish Cap is a great choice because Skyward Sword borrowed many elements from it. Thanks, NINTENDO.

You give me free shit all the time. The other douchebags don't.

I like how Nintendo puts out the games they NEED to put on the eShop for free, and ten at a time. They really need to do things like this with the eShop and then make the prices better. But that's our Nintendo, and I can't wait to download these though, looking forward to it.

Some good titles on there. I would have preferred to see Zero Mission over Fusion, but oh well.

Especially glad that Fire Emblem 8 made the list. There are actually a few titles here I would rank as "top 10 games on GBA" material. Now if only Nintendo had teamed up with Konami and given us Aria of Sorrow....Still my favorite Castlevania game ever.
