3D Dot Game Heroes reveals new game modes (ZOMG ZELDA) photo

Another day, another story about From Software's 3D Dot Game Heroes. This time, we've learned of some game modes and minigames that will be appearing in the Zelda parody/homage RPG, including a tower defense mode and a racing section. Hot stuff.

Dot Game will have an "extreme difficulty" mode. The new difficulty is unlocked after clearing certain objectives in the standard game. Extreme difficulty mode won't just be the main game with higher challenge, as it appears other characters in the game will be conscious of your past playing experience, and a number of NPCs will feel compelled to commend you for your bravery in tackling the harder game.

Requested by fans is a new "Grid" mode. This mode lets you slightly alter the graphics and toggle a grid that separates the world and environment into squares. I personally prefer the grid on, since everything looks more like it's made of little pixel blocks. Taking the grid off makes things look a bit like a child's drawing, which is not so awesome.

In addition, two new minigames have been detailed. First up is Dash Race, which is a simple case of using the character's dash move to zip through a course and get the fastest time. There is also Block Defense, a tower defense game in which you position various attack blocks to stop waves of enemies. You can also directly get into the action and fight enemies yourself.

Looks friggin' sweet to me. From Software has more than proven itself with Demon's Souls, so I don't see why anybody with a PS3 and a love for RPGs wouldn't be excited about this one. I know I'm chomping at the bit.

"This game looks friggin' sweet to me" It's obvious by that statement that Jim Sterling hates the ps3.

jk, though.

This game does look friggin' sweet.

CHRIST!

How the HELL is this game even funny or considered a parody/spoof?!?!

Tell me...there is NO humor, therefor it is a rip off.

Easy as that

Definition: Parody
Learn what words mean.
A rip off would take itself seriously.

And this looks awesome, another entry on my "Reasons to get a PS3" list.

Damn. Along with Demon's Souls, From Software is quickly becoming one of my favorite developers, already out-beating Square-Enix which I barely consider the same companies that Square Soft and Enix were.

Full-paid pre-order for sure on this one.

OMG its h5e5l5l5o5 still not understanding what a parody is.

h5e5l5l5o5 I suggest watching SNL or some other skit oriented comedy show. They use parody as a form of comedy to make people laugh. Not all of it is genius work, but it is parody in action.

I already said this many times, but how can anything be an homage to something else when it's going to be giving money to the creators competitors, competitors who probably don't want the original creators making anything new?

h5e5...? Whatever. Retardo name bud. Anyway, this game is pretty much the definition of parody, you couldn't parody Zelda more if you tried imo just going from screens and videos. Go learn some silly. Yes it's also a rip off but how many Zelda rip=offs have their been? Yet this one might as well be called Zelda: Adventure of Link 3D!!! It's so blatant they're taking the piss. They're also emulating old work which Nintendo have moved on from and evolved. They're using a formula that's old and making it new with ridiculous graphics.

I would feel bad saying this was a rip-off. The Adventure of Zelda rip offs came soon after. This is over 10 years after the release it's emulating. Thus parody/homage is applicable. Not rip off imo.

Wow, cool is h5e5. It's just a parody (and believe me, it IS one) of a popular game. If you want to see a Zelda ripoff, look at the lousy titles that were released on the Phillips CD-I about 15 years ago. Now THAT is trashy Zelda.
