Adding a second analog nub would screw over current 3DS owners...again. Might as well do it now rather than later though Nintendo.

Yeah I don't get why people freak out over these things so much either. That's just the price you pay for being a early adopter. I mean its not just Nintendo though, because there are 5 different version of the PSP now, so if Sony fans think that the PSV 2000 isn't coming in a year, or two after the PSVita launches, than keep dreaming, because its coming as well.
Plus let's not even get started on Apple with the iPhone/iPad out two different times a year now. That being said, man I'm glad I waited to get a 3DS. LOL! I was thinking about getting the red one this week, but now I'll just wait for the new one, that will probably be announced next week and out by the end of the year. Which is when all the big games will be out, so its perfect timing to get it then!

I'm not so much enraged over this, as I could see it as a possibility, I'm just hoping that if the dual analog 3ds is legit, that they offer this for a really low price for those of us who bought the single stick version, especially for those of us (with proof, aka receipt or just ambassadors) who payed the 250 for the thing since it's going through all these changes. At least the addon looks like it will be easier to use the dpad with.
Going to have to agree with Freekopolis, this sucks yeah yeah I knew their would be a hardware revision, but I thought I would have at least two years before that happened, and I thought a second analog pad was out of the question.
To be fair though use early adopters aren't getting left behind, we just have to deal with a bulky system, and one of the biggest complaints was the lack of a circle pad. This was the only time I've ever early adopted, and I did it because I thought their wouldn't be a price cut for a while judging from Wii and DS prices, and that the next hardware revision would have been a 3DSXL (which I could have lived without). Oh well I still got Mario Kart 7, and Super Mario 3D Land coming at the end of the year.

Streamline it Nintendo, and I'll consider it. In the meantime, it looks like I'm really going to have to wait before I grab a 3DS, seeing as Nintendo is throwing out rumored redesigns, accessories, and price drops like confetti.

This looks pretty neat (obviously bulky but whatever). As long as it sits more securely within the cradle than it does in the charge cradle, all should be well. If it falls out of the cradle as easily as it does the charge cradle, the prospect of constantly holding it in is somewhat worrisome, though. Hopefully some game designs of future games take advantage of this for camera movement. Woulda been helpful in OoT3D, but no biggie since the original OoT camera controls sucked just as much.
Thanks for the burn Nintendo. Gonna rage if this turns in to a new model/sku so soon. Having bought 2 right out of the gate for my gf and i, I will not be pleased to have paid for obsolete models.

I told myself I wouldn't get the 3ds till Starfox 64 3d came out. But so much has happen in the last couple of months I don't even know If I should buy it right now or wait for the inevitable 2nd revision. Also that 2nd analog nub placement looks funky to say the least.

I hope the redesign is good. Still waiting for them to drop region locking. It's not a big deal though I mean they only lost customers like me and I only bought like.. 57 games for the ds. So no big deal.
I love Capcom. I love how they invent new products in order to fix flaws the system in question has. People this isn't Nintendo's new stick. it is capcom's, They did the same with the classic controller pro on wii. The reason for this second nub is to be able to play it on the 3ds the way players played on Wii.
Now if only Capcom will release me some proper street fighter ports on the Wii

When the NES top loader came out nobody cried about being screwed for buying a bulky box NES.
I've been a gamer for 30 years and have watched systems evolve and change over time. The 3DS is no different. Even the hyped PSP Vita will have new models.
Last but not least: just because a game is old does not make it bad. Nintendo is giving away some of it's classic games and yet people are still enraged because it's not current enough. I played these games as a kid and I would still break out the NES to play them today.
I know it's cool to hate on the 3DS and Nintendo right now but save your outrage for something meaningful.

@Scissors: ha ha, thanks for pointing that out. Nub I meant of course. I think Nintendo should mail these to all the "Ambassadors" for free. I'm not too mad about this if it means developers will support the second analog stick to create a proper shooter on the 3DS. I am a bit upset that now my 3DS won't fit in my carrying case, though.
Monster Hunter will ensure the 3DS does just fine. The end isn't nigh, folks! Nintendo will still dominate the worldwide portable market.
I think I'll wait for the next model of the 3DS that integrates a second nub into the system itself.

That thing looks so ugly. I wonder how comfortable it will be on the hands. One of the things I have disliked about the PSP and subsequently the vita is that its too wide for my small hands. When I play the PSP too long my hands cramp up and I can see that happening with this. I wonder at times what NIntendo is thinking. I guess we'll have to see what games actually use this.
It's aesthetically unpleasant but honestly it looks kind of comfortable. I for one welcome our 2nd analog cradle overlord.

I don't think the 3DS will fail, but it will be their weakest handheld console in the US. The games you named off will probably earn them a stronger following in Japan than US. Kinda like Sega Saturn.

what an embarrassment, that pretty much ensures no one will buy this now (or should) because the re-release with the second analog stick will be out soon. Way to shoot yourself in the foot Nintendo. Everyone who knows a gamer will be told to wait on it, and for good reason.
Is this cradle going to add extra battery life? If so, my anger is residing. I'd rather have Nintendo fix the mistake of leaving off a second analog stick now, early in the 3DS life cycle, than keep soldiering on for years like the PSP did and have the games suffer as a result. My big question now is: When the inevitable redesign comes out will I be able to transfer my Ambassador games over? Or at least Yoshi's Island?
