2K Sports announces The BIGS 2 for summer, I practice my Big Heat

Who doesn’t love arcade sports games? Though they tend to lack depth, they almost always provide tons o’ fun -- and 2007’s The BIGS was no exception. Taking the throne that was vacated by Midway’s solid MLB SlugFest series when 2K procured the exclusive third-party baseball license, The BIGS brought addictive gameplay to the fore -- and its Home Run Pinball mode, which put you in a glitzy Times Square, was a personal favorite of mine, since I’m a sucker for anything set in New York.

So it only stands to reason that 2K Sports would eventually release a sequel, and they will, in fact, be releasing The BIGS 2 this summer for the PS3, 360, Wii, PS2, and PSP. There’s currently not much other information on the game; we do know from the press release (after the jump) that Home Run Pinball is making a triumphant return, along with “a variety of other thrilling new features.” Count me in!

For now, keep your eyes on the game’s official Web site. How many of you are looking forward to turbo and special meters in a baseball game?

The fun is back again with this popular arcade-style Major League Baseball game from 2K Sports

(NASDAQ: TTWO), announced today that The BIGS™ 2, the sequel to the hit arcade-style Major League Baseball game The BIGS™, will be available this summer for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PLAYSTATION®3 and PlayStation®2 computer entertainment systems, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, and Wii™ home video game system from Nintendo. Known for its over-the-top style of gameplay, The BIGS 2 focuses on the “big” fast-paced moments in Major League Baseball with new opportunities to go up against MLB legends, more mini-games like Home Run Pinball, and a variety of other thrilling new features.
