2K searching for a PS3 developer ... will the PS3 see BioShock after all? photo

Some murmurs have surfaced in regards to seeing the BioShock franchise on the PS3, thanks to some job postings on the 2K Boston website requesting multiple positions with PS3 programming experience. 2K themselves have said word for word that BioShock will not come to the PS3; however, we all know that a sequel (or prequel) is in the works, and if 2K is smart, they will want to spread that upcoming title to as many consoles as possible. More consoles means more sales, people. MOAR!

I wouldn't call this bit news, as the more I look at the source the more I feel it's a case of picking at crumbs. The possibility is there however. Frankly, I would still play the 360 version because I happen to enjoy achievements, and even though I know the PS3 game would likely be gorgeous, achievements win the war for me in the end. What's your preference, if you have one?

[Via MyGen -- Thanks, Jonathan]

Publishers and/orDevelopers don't always keep their promises. Sometimes, things change.

Remember what happened with Resident Evil 4 ?

It would be cool if there was some double pack with Bioshock and Prequel-Shock in a box on it's way to PS3, but its probably just a different project. If they were going to make it, they would probably announce it.

That would be pretty awesome. As long as you don't have to microwaving something to play the game.

You have to hit the right notes at the right time or your food doesn't get cooked the whole way through and you die from food poisoning.

2k Boston is working on some XCom game while the majority of the Bioshock team went off to form 2k Marin in the bay area, and were supposedly working on the Bioshock sequel.

That's what I remember reading, anyway.

Hmm, a giant publisher who publishes many games(mostly multi-platform) is searching for a PS3 developer, which they already develop for, and you conclude this as anectdotal evidence that there might be a PS3 Bioshock?

Yeah, I’m a PS3 owner, and even I think that these people are grasping at straws here. Ever think that 2K is just making a different game for the PS3 (not saying it’ll be an exclusive), and they need developers?

Xbox 360 I guess.

It would cool if the PS3 saw a copy of Bioshock. We'll see what happens.

Like it's been said, 2K Boston is NOT making Bioshock anymore. Ken Levine is there, while most of the team is 2K Marin. And Ken is obviously not wanting to touch ruining the game with a sequel.

However, I still wouldn't be surprised if the sequel ends up on PS3 and they do a port of the first one before then (a la' Oblivion). Bioshock development started a long time before the PS3 was really out there, so it probably would have been a bitch to do a port and get it out on time (not to mention any possible temporary contracts the IP could have, like Mass Effect).

Wait, wasn't there an equivalent to achievements that Sony was working on for the PS3? Whatever happened to that?

PS3 is the home of Under-rated games, not Over-rated games like 360 =/ They can keep it

They're going to bring in Will Wright to make the next game. It's going to be Bioshock 2: SimRapture. This is a prequel to Bioshock in which you play as Andrew Ryan as you're building the city.
