Before you get all excited and look for yourself, know that this easter egg is only the programmer's initials, LMD, displayed on the screen. You won't turn into Bee Mario or anything.
What is notable is how long it took to find this hidden screen: 26 years. The coder, Landon M. Dyer, let the aged cat out of the bag in a recent blog post, stating that there is an easter egg in the Donkey Kong Atari 800 port. Digital Press, once hearing the news, added the easter egg to the list of others they offer a cash reward for finding.
One Mr. Don Hodges was more than happy to do the foot work for a cool $75. A video (below the jump) details the process to unlock the egg. It's not that exciting, mind you.
