250GB Xbox 360 Elite and 250GB drive coming next? photo

There's nothing solid on this yet, but some signs out there seem to point to the current Xbox 360 Elite, the 120GB model, becoming extinct. Right now it seems that most retailers are out of stock on this model, including Walmart, Gamestop and Best Buy. Hell, Kotaku says that right now, GameStop is giving you a $50 gift card with the purchase of the Elite. Maybe they're trying to clear shelf space for something new. And this same disappearing act is happening to the separate 120GB hard disk. Just try finding one now.

I asked Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg about the hard drive specifically last week. I pointed out that it would be nice to have that 250GB hard drive from the Xbox 360 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 system separately as an upgrade.

"It's possible, Greenberg said. "We only did it with the limited edition console, but hard drive sizes typically grow year over year. When, where and how -- those things haven't been determined yet."

This is far from a confirmation, but it gives me hope. He gave nothing on the console getting a size boost, but he did point out that the limited edition version "sold extremely well."

I feel pretty good about both an Elite upgrade and a separate 250GB drive.

I think this is real funny because when they released the MW2 console they were like "no way we'd EVER sell a 250 GB hdd EVER. EVER."
And now they are.
Woo.

Well they sell the 120gb for $150 so it will either drop or the 250 will be $200-250, but I can buy a 250gb hard drive for 55+ now. Fuck that, and their greedy ways.

I managed to grab the MW2 console so I'm good on HDD space for the rest of my life. I still have 177 GB left and that's with all my arcade games, 5 or 6 installed games and a bunch of videos from the US and JPN marketplaces, not to mention about 8 demos.

The MW system was a killer deal, especially after I traded in the extra controller and the standard MW2 game. I have both the RE5 and MW2 systems now. Overkill FTW.

I would love to be able to download content wantonly without having to delete it the second I don't need it anymore just to free up space for more content. I'm in the market for a new Xbox 360 anyway: my 2-year-old Halo 3 edition is starting to buy the farm (but it hasn't gotten the red ring of death! the little champ).

It'd be nice if they actually made the hard drive affordable - some of us could really use the space.

Microsoft doesn't need a new console. Microsoft needs to get appropriate prices on their hard drives.

lol, my PS3 has a 500GB HDD in it...

And it's an older one.

oh.. the drive I put in it cost about $75.

The 20 GB HDD I got for my Arcade model costs more than half of my other systems internal memory.

Man I fucking hate MS.

If you're feeling bold, you can always flash a 250gb drive and put it in your xbox. And no, it doesn't set off any alarms with microsoft, because you are not running any modified xbox bios or dvd drive bios.

Still have my 20GB. Not an issue for me but it'd still be nice to have extra space.

I need a bigger hardrive. I've got about 1GB left on my 20GB. There's tons of stuff I want to download, and more stuff to come out in the future. They'ed be wise to drop the price of the 120GB because this lack of harddrive space is stopping me from giving Microsoft even more money and I'm sure I'm not the only one in this position.

What's $150 dollars for a 120GB hdd in real money? About £93 of the Queens finest. That's over twice the price I paid for a 320GB hdd for the PS3.

Do Microsoft not realise that hard drives have come down in price in the last 3 or 4 years, or do they just not care? Sorry, my bad, stupid question. I'm shutting up & going away now.

The tutorial is very simple and explained to a great level. It doesn’t take any effort from our side to grasp it! I guess now I understand what the threshold function was for and how it could be used to make striking line art conversion effects!
