This weekend's Good Old Games promotion, 25% off a handful of action titles, is right up my alley. The image above conveys which games are on sale and does my job for me, but I'm not about to go down without a solid fight.
To get the full 25% off, add any of the following games to your cart and apply promo code "ACTION" during checkout: Die by the Sword + Expansion, Earthworm Jim 1 & 2, Earthworm Jim 3D, MDK, MDK 2, Messiah, and Shattered Steel. You have until Monday, March 23 at 11:59 PM EDT to take part.
Now, I don't know how many of you have ever played Earthworm Jim 3D before, but I have, and the boss battles in it frustrated me to absurd levels of anger. Essentially, the game forces you to collect a bunch of marbles while an enemy character tries to gather more than you. While it sounds easy in theory, the controls are complete sh*t. It's quite honestly the opposite of fun.
While I highly recommend you guys don't buy that game, I have no problems with any of the other titles. Have at it!
[Thanks, John B]

"bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Besides that, is Messiah really as bad as everyone says? I remember reading previews for that game before it came out and it looked cool. Since then I've heard some negative things about it. Has anybody here on Dtoid played it? Did you like it?
I never could get past the second level in EJ 3D. I had more fun cranking up the resolution on my Voodoo 3 to ridiculous levels to see how pretty it could be.
It's just fun to say
This is pretty sweet. I have good memories with all these games. I might buy a couple!
GOG.com has a bunch of programmers that mod the games making them compatible to the system. That's like the only real job they do on the company aside getting publishers to sell their games for a super cheap price. They are fucking awesome.
I got it to run on an XP machine many, many years ago, but it would still crash whenever you died and you'd have to CtrlAltDel the game and start again, and I've forgotten how I got it to do that well. But other than that, Messiah is truly an amazing piece of gaming. Fear Factory soundtrack? Brutal violence? Cherubic possession of prostitutes? Playing as GOD'S ASSASSIN!? CHECK! CHECK! CHECK!
