25 minutes of FarCry 2: It's an entirely different kind of jungle fever!

2:21 AM on 10.19.2007, Nex 20 comments

     FarCry

The above clip -- and the second part after the jump -- show off 25 minutes of footage from the upcoming FarCry 2. According to the on-screen text, the clips are from a pre-alpha build, but that doesn't stop the game from looking as gorgeous as a moonlit African savanna (filled with naked women and huge LCD televisions).

Since Crytek sold the rights to the FarCry series to Ubisoft, this sequel is being developed without their involvement. It remains to be seen who exactly can fill the shoes of the Eastern European virtuosos, but assuming Ubisoft doesn't completely screw the pooch on the marketing, the game will probably make tons of cash just based on its good looks and storied heritage.

Of course, the same could be said of Kate Hudson, so if FarCry 2 doesn't drive one of the Wilson brothers to heroin and suicide, we'll consider it a success.

Turks in Germany are like Mexicans in the U.S., so that's a good reason for reasonable immigration reform :P

It looks good. Not Crytek "heh, this looks kinda nice" good, but still good. I know these are low-res videos, but I can already here the legions of PC fans whirr up the "Crytek on PC looks so much better in DX10" noise...

The lack of Stephen Dorff in this build is disheartening.

the presenter said the map represents 1 square kilometer. he also said the game is 50 sq km. then he goes on saying that "you're seeing ONE PERCENT of the game..." it's TWO PERCENT, einstein. Man, i hate people.

I was very skeptical of FC2, but having seen some demos, I have to say it looks incredible.

The last level in Far Cry was the hardest part of any game I have ever played. I never even came close to getting through. That's the only game, I admit, that I never finished due to difficulty. Anyone know what part I'm talking about, where you enter the building with the columns in the middle, and like 45 dudes show up, half with rocket launchers? And on next to hardest difficulty, it was impossible (literally). Once you actually somehow manage to kill a few people, the second wave comes in, an you're almost dead already. It wasn't like most games, where you keep getting a little further each time you load it back up. kick ass game, regardless.

What platform is Far Cry 2 going to be on?

I hope its not PC only like the hardware whores over at Crytex.

I would like if this game on releaed on the Wii. This is the type of game that could take advantage of teh Wii's unique architecture and control method.

Though I'm sure Ubisoft will cram some sort of version of it on to every console on the planet once they get the PC version out the door.

The way the wind whips through the grass is beautiful like that plastic bag scene in American Beauty.

> Since founders Cevat, Avni and Faruk Yerli are Turkish.

Nice try, but I'm not sure Turkey is Eastern Europe either.
