Here's the moment some of you (and myself) have been desperately awaiting: the ten Student Showcase winners for the 2010 Independent Games Festival, plus a slew of honorable mentions, have been published. Here are the winning games:
Prior to seeing who got the top honors, I was only truly familiar with Igneous and Continuity. Both are great games, and deserve to place. But then there's Devil's Tuning Fork and Paper Cakes. Allow me to keep this brief, because I'm dying to go see what those two are all about.
This fine collection of indie wares will be playable at GDC 2010, where we'll likely have someone -- Anthony, most likely -- walking the show floor to get a closer look at all of this neat stuff.
Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied: "bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

I'm good friends with most of the guys (and girl) who did Devil's Tuning Fork (I see them on a daily basis); and I wish them the best of luck with the project. I hope you guys like it.
As someone who only recently succumbed to Rev Anthony's features and reviews and have recently really started checking out indie games(MERRY STEAMAS), I must say I'm really interested in these.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Igneous is a lot of fun, it gets really intense.
Continuity is clever, I wasn't blown away, but definitely check it out.
Puzzlebloom has a really great art style, I'd recommend it.
Spectre is decent, it didn't really connect with me. I think others might like it though.
