As we begin a new year, it's hard not to already predict that 2007 may just be one of the best ever for gaming -- in terms of quality and quantity of titles coming out. No matter what you spend your gaming hours on, there seems to be something for everyone.
Whether it's Halo 3 or Metroid or Metal Gear Solid or Crysis or Zelda or Spore or Mario, your console or platform of choice is gonna get some major love this year. Hell, if you own everything, you might as well start that loan application process and kiss the kids goodbye. That, or find a good black-market organ service and a divorce lawyer.
So with that said, what kind of predictions do you have for this year? Any major surprises, letdowns, or time sinks on the horizon? Most importantly, will Destructoid ultimately rise above all other gaming sites and crush them under its mighty metal foot?

I mean, yeah, obviously there are tons of other sites beating you by a lot more (Kotaku, GameTrailers, IGN, even (sadly) Joystiq by quite a lot, etc.) and there's no shame in that. But you guys are getting owned by <b>GoNintendo</b>.
Step it up, Summa.
I come to dtoid for commentary and Gaming news, but the reason you guys aint going to topple the other sites is because you're not really offering anything inherently useful to the general gamer population. For example, if you wanted to know whether Game X was worth buying, would you go to dtoid? Or would you go to gamespot/ign/1up/etc.
This sounds like I'm trying to put ya guys down but i'm really not, its just a fact. You guys rock because you're not one of them, you offer something completely different, and more entertaining.
Here's to 2007!

With two major slip ups like that the past year, they've got to step it up if they're going to compete.

As to what will happen in this next year in terms of video game expectations and such...I think this year will be amazing I agree with you there. I think that by the end of the year the PS3 will be the best system out there. I know it sounds crazy but frankly the cell processor isn't even understood right now so how people can be complaining about inferior games at launch is pretty ludacris. I have heard that in the coming months the price of HD tech will be dropping some and once the guy down the street has an HD tv you can bet that more people will be putting that at the top of their "I want one" lists. Course when you have a HD tv the HD enabled consoles look a lot prettier too. Sony thinks the PS3 will last for 10 years...it will start to show how that is possible in 2007.

When that day comes, and it will (but not nearly in the way fanboys hope to), the 360 will most likely be right up there with it.
