A little trip to the Hair Palace today brought to my attention 1Up's exclusive Silent Hill 5 preview with the new American team. The video shows off the latest footage from Konami's premier horror series, which displays a clear influence from the Silent Hill movie in terms of aesthetics. The environment changes from regular Silent Hill to the 'Otherworld' in realtime, with that 'peeling' look that the film used, while the infamous nurses look exactly like their theatrical counterparts. Now, I liked three quarters of the movie, I do hope that SH5 doesn't end up as just a visual tribute to the thing.
What makes me feel a lot better is the obvious passion that this development team have for Silent Hill and the evident determination the newbies have to do the franchise justice. As fans of Silent Hill themselves, one can but hope they truly know what we 'Hill lovers want in a sequel. I am fond of the idea of improved combat, as well as apprahensively intrigued by the promise of more epic boss encounters. With Akira Yamaoka serving as soundsmith and consultant, Silent Hill 5 has all the tools to bring the series its credibility back. Let's hope the hands that hold those tools know what they're doing.
Iīve always hated the Silent Hill controllers, and knowing that there is an improved controller and fighitng makes me want to play the game.
I dindīt understand the real time thinggie. Maybe because i was never a true fan of Silent Hill series, the fact that i close to piss myself on that kind of games, make me drop the controller fast and never put the disc on the tray again. But i the end i enjoy playing them.
Wow!!! So excited, glad the series is getting back to its roots after the slightly disapointing Silent Hill 4. But this one looks like it's gonna be good
Am I the only one that's sick of the nurses? Yeah, they were faptastic and scary in SH2/3, but it gets old after awhile. All I want is a completely new/original set of enemies.
I tried watching that yesterday, but seriously I couldn't handle the two idiots wax each others egos, so I cut out early. Rather just play the game myself anyhow than listen to some fat douche bags tell me their expert opinions on it...
out of morbid curiosity, am I the only person out there who's looking forward to SH 5 much more than RE 5? I can't stand the lame-ass arcade style that's taken over RE and I sure as shit won't miss a game that would literally make me turn around and run back the way I came, simply because of the sound design. (I know that makes me sound like a pussy, but I could have sworn pyramid head was at the other end of the jail cells pulling his sword. Although there ended being being absolutely nothing.)
I've never been a huge SH fan, survival-horror has never really been my thing. I may have to give this game a shot though, especially with the mention of improved combat. I hate feeling helpless in a game, especially when it is survival-horror. I don't want to always have to flee from enemies to survive.
